does anyone know why my indentation would show up fine in my buffer, but in Vim/github it looks like garbage?

it initially had an .editor_config file at the root of the project but I deleted it and restarted emacs

OK, going into each buffer and running cider-format-buffer seems to have fixed it

frustrating that Emacs won't show me the correct indentation

Possible there are tab widths involved?

my guess is that the .editor_config had forced my buffer to write in tabs yeah
