@dottedmag Because of a lack of co-ordination, or willingness or interest or whatever by clojure core team(i.e. Cognitect), a multitude of efforts to create clojure documentation has popped up over the years. http://Clojuredocs.org is one such effort. The efforts are valiant, but over the long run it's too much work and cost to ask of any one person. Eventually they fall by the wayside and are neglected and grow out of date.
The core team does maintain a number of doc sites and have written multiple books, so it should be understandable that we are not seeking additional sites to maintain. As you say, it’s a lot of work.
would there even be overlap between clojuredocs (core) and cljdoc (libs)?
@alexmiller Sorry alex, didn't mean to imply that core team should do more than they already do, but that we need more community involvement and focused effort that's sustainable.
Getting people to write good docs is hard :)
There is a spot in the Clojure site guides open to contrib lib docs btw.
Not sure it makes sense to put external docs there
So happy to have things like cljdoc
> There is a spot in the Clojure site guides open to contrib lib docs btw. > Not sure it makes sense to put external docs there Can you expand on that?
I would be excited to have “core” link to cljdoc for some libs (maybe start with less popular ones for starters) but I’m not sure if there’s interest in that kind of thing 🙂
The guides page left nav has a subhead for libs
I envisioned this being for contrib guides
But I’m less sure about putting stuff there for non-contrib. But if there was a great place to point, I could do so
