I suppose that is the question here. Maybe the issue is it is unreasonable to expect any sort of convergence this early in the process. Python's first stable release was in 1991 (26 yrs ago) but Numpy didn't really arrive until 14 yrs later, and for reasons I don't know, beat out Numarray. From Numpy we then got SciPy, Pandas, http://et.al. Clojure's first stable release was in 2009, just 8 yrs ago. Things like core.matrix are not even 'officially' released yet. So, maybe it is just way too early to expect any convergence on any fundamental piece, much less things built on top of it.
