Repost from #slack-help after suggestion from @pez: Question regarding what type of messages should be considered as spam. One guy in #clojure-czech keeps posting "Dobre rano" (= Good morning). I don't particularly like that.

Once a day, it looks like? I would say that doesn't violate our community standards.

jiriknesl12:09:52

The guy is me. We greet in the #clojure-uk (where I live) and I wanted to transplant it to #clojure-czech (where I am originally from) because otherwise the channel is completely dead.

This happens in a lot of groups like #clojure-nl where we greet each other every morning. There's even a bot for it

borkdude12:09:20

Keeps the community connected :)

jiriknesl12:09:24

Exactly. 🙂

plexus12:09:22

I recently started doing that in #clojure-berlin, trying to get some life into the channel again. With everyone cooped up it seemed like a nice thing to try.

I really like the morning greetings and random banter in #clojure-europe

I agree it seems nice. Should start that in #clojure-sweden maybe. 😃 One could vary it a bit and add something to the greeting. Often I am curious about something. Then I could throw that in, and see if someone knows the answer. Sort of a check-in. That said, god morgon is often just fine.

scriptor12:09:34

Yeah, varying it up can help. The occasional joke can be fun

dharrigan12:09:51

We do it all the time in #clojure-uk. It's a nice way to say "Hi, I'm here, if you wanna talk about anything, just shout up :- )"

jumar13:09:32

I don’t see a point when there’s a flood of Good Morning messages in the channel; but do whatever you guys think it’s fun...

jumar13:09:21

To me it’s off-topic

@jumar in fairness, #clojure-europe and #clojure-uk are only rarely about clojure and are more about Clojurians. Different channels have their own norms
