I think it is announce-worthy. But I'm not someone whose opinion can make it OK or not OK 😃 .

@orestis #announcements is intended for project announcements, not channels. People are creating channels all the time so it would get far too noisy.

I'm surprised there wasn't a #react channel already but if you really must "announce" it, there are various front end channels where it might make sense.

In general, folks create new channels, invite a bunch of relevant folks/friends in, and then they grow organically.
