I don't think the community here is that vulnerable to alternative viewpoints. The incident you referred showed people being pretty united against that alternative viewpoint, I would not worry too much of them gaining traction. What's more, I suspect it's fair to say the Clojure community is full of people who have used their critical thinking to understand things past their superficial presentation, and so have a rather good natural immunity to fake news.

I don't think we should endeavour to judge what viewpoints are good or bad, except for obvious hate speech, because we don't have the institutions to do so legitimately and reliably. Saying "please stop commenting on this topic because you're making the people here feel bad" is much less questionable than "we have judged your opinions to be unlawful", because the latter is a justice sentence. It takes juries, lawyers, trials, and a presumption of innocence to make a good justice system.

The "less questionable" approach was the one taken. The issue has been resolved.
