How much rain should I expect in Helsinki? 1- probably little :sun_small_cloud: 2- probably some :snow_cloud: 3- probably a lot :thunder_cloud_and_rain: 4- now clue ❓ (I'm healing from some foot injury, a bit sensitive to the choice of shoes to bring with me 😊.)
I’d say there’s 50%-50% chance of anything between ☀️ :rain_cloud: . The temperatures in September usually vary somewhere between 5-15 degrees.
The long-time (1981-2010) average rain amount in September in Helsinki is 56 mm. All-time biggest rainfall 160 mm (2012), all-time smallest 5,3 mm (2002). Statistics also tell, that we’ve had 8 cm of snow in the end of September in 1928 😬
@yka thanks! This helps so much.
It's nice to meet other clojurists in the conference. Especially I'd like to network with other clojurists in the Helsinki region - to check what kind of professional opportunities there are for Clojure developers in Helsinki. I'd really like to find a cool Clojure & cloud native (GCP, AWS or Azure) project in Helsinki region. Improvement suggestion for future Clojutre conferences: in some coffee break there could be stands by major Finnish Clojure shops in which you could go and ask what kind of career opportunities they might provide.
The conference sponsors have stands there and you can surely have a chat with them during the coffee break. Of course there are people from other Clojure shops as well such as mine. 🙂
Furthermore, I’d suggest checking out the Helsinki Clojure Meetup to network with local clojurists: https://www.meetup.com/Helsinki-Clojure-Meetup/
Yeah, I think most (all?) of the Platinum and Gold sponsors who have stands at ClojuTRE, also offer Clojure jobs.
We could have some kind of recruitment market, maybe, but I’m not sure how different that could be…
a pre-question for all sponsors: “do you / how many clojure-jobs do you have open ATM?” + summary at a conference opening?
If possible, it might be worth noting that there are also other companies in Helsinki region having Clojure-jobs open besides the sponsors.
From the top of my mind, I can think of at least four companies who are hiring clojurists around here currently (YLE, Zenrobotics, Tomorrow Tech, Reaktor). Surely there are others too.
Just advertised the conference in our corporation Yammer, Developers channel.
Do you think there will be a mini-DP to HDMI (or whatever connection the venue's beamer requires) cable? Tonight I planned to do a presentation with my Macbook Air, but there wasn't 🙂
We’ll try to provide all kinds of adapters. Mini-DP to HDMI should be ok. Of course, it’s always good to BYOA (Bring Your Own Adapter), especially if you have something more exotic.
