has there been any discussion as to how much the tickets for the community conf are going to be?

With four companies willing to help with the cost we could aim to go for free, or £1/5 as to have a minimal attendance commitment?

It should be free IMHO. There are people who actually paid a ticket for this and they don’t know when they are going to see their money back. The attendance commitment metric is useful, but given we can afford a venue for 150-200 I don’t think we risk overcrowding. The eventbrite page also has a top limit of 100 which is probably good to start with.

If it is free, make sure the original attendees' spaces are reserved

so while the 100 eventbrite tickets are “on sale” we can account for 75 additional people who could join anyway (it looks like that list is nowhere available unfortunately)

On our side, I guess people with a ticket will keep an eye on any news regarding the conf, including our effort as soon as we are ready to push things live. If we can’t get to them, hopefully they’ll get to us.

Re ticket situation, that’s why I asked, I got a ticket via a work scheme, and getting that refunded and redirected to alternative conference will likely take ages if at all

It’s a bit of a shame it’s such a short notice, but skillsmatter people couldn’t have helped it

I like ClojureY, as successor to “X” and the link to the Y-combinator. It is short and projects well into a logo (if ever we want one). Actually, Y is sorta λ in reverse.

So even Clojure-λ or Cλojure.

• in-ns ‘london

• defconf.london

• fnconf - fnconf.london

• keeping it 🇬🇧: sorted-conf

Agree with the sentiment above. It’s definitely starting as a replacement for the first year, but the organization starts from a completely different mindset (e.g. free conf without link to a profit organization apart from sponsors). A little bit like that first Euroclojure in London.

Bit scared of the emoji thing (for portability, a github repo for example). But it could be full name “clojure-lambda” (for any portability) and Cλojure/Clojureλ as logo brand etc.

Maybe just go for clojure.london as the domain, github repo… but the logo can be: Cλojure λondon

I agree with the sentiment about not wanting it to be perceived as london centric, however when it’s in Bristol it could be Clojure-Bristol and so on. Could be a series of conferences over the years visiting different cities. Interestingly the domain http://clojure.uk is available… that could be the parent, e.g http://bristol.clojure.uk, just thinking aloud…

Please avoid using anything that suggests any connection to the SkillsMatter conference, to avoid potential lawsuits. So similar names or the use of Exchange should be avoided. You have no idea who will buy SkillsMatter and what they may pursue. This conference should avoid being pitched as a replacement or alternative, as this also infers a connection. Pitch it as a new conference that is taking place.

@U3SG7RX7A when you have a second, can you remove “clojurex”, “exchange” etc from the eventbrite? Just put clojure conference for the moment. Any link between them is implicitly clear anyway.
