Does anybody know how to work with ClojureScritpt in Emacs? It works perfect for Clojure (go to function definition, etc), but it doesn't work for ClojureScript. I tried all the steps from docs:

abtv12:11:07

What can be a problem?

a.espolov16:11:59

clojars is working?

akiva16:11:29

Works for me.

chris17:11:48

Do you have an nrepl server running?

danlebrero17:11:00

@abtv: try the #C0617A8PQ channel

colin.yates18:11:33

@a.espolov: http://clojars.org doesn’t work for me either.

tcrawley18:11:48

@colin.yates: @a.espolov: linode is having network issues with their ATL datacenter, which is where http://clojars.org happens to live

colin.yates18:11:51

thanks @tcrawley for the update

Was just reading some HN and saw the post about "Please use IRC for FOSS projects"

devn20:11:35

I'm not sure I agree with it, but one thing that does concern me is that there are conversations happening in IRC, and then there's the Slack. They're separate. Has anyone discussed setting up an IRC bridge?

sveri20:11:09

@devn: there is also the forum and JIRA + some endless gitter channels

devn20:11:02

@sveri: yeah, I guess I've always seen JIRA, the forums, and IRC as separate types of communication.

devn20:11:34

IRC, Gitter, and Slack are the same kind of stuff, though.

sveri20:11:51

@devn well, there is also a slack and irc clojure-dev channel, so some things might be crossing too

sveri20:11:17

One of the unsolved problems of our time, information flowing through different channels

devn20:11:23

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not freaking out or even saying I have an answer

sveri20:11:02

Oh, sry if I came off like this, I just wanted to throw this in, it is something I thought about for some time too without having a good idea

devn20:11:04

just gave me pause, because I'm a long-time IRC user, and I haven't run the numbers, but the number of messages has certainly decreased as people have moved to Slack.

devn20:11:37

and yet, there are a number of people I have a lot of respect for and would like to hear from who I don't think have any desire to move to Slack

devn20:11:58

people change slowly, so maybe over time some of those folks will migrate to Slack... It surprises and confuses me that Slack doesn't have a program for open source projects.

devn20:11:25

Why aren't they trying to bring all of freenode to Slack?

sveri20:11:23

@devn not sure what the business value of that would be for slack, getting a lot of people that are accustomed to a free service

devn20:11:59

pretty clear evidence that these days, a lot of technical people don't even IRC

griffio20:11:55

@devn so they SlackHQ are not really built for Open Source type community

sveri20:11:00

Hehe, thats true too, most of my programmer colleagues just smile at me when I talk about IRC or even wonder what that is

kurtlazarus20:11:20

everything’s great about irc - i just want my pretty printing for code samples simple_smile

devn20:11:38

@griffio: I'm not sure you can say they aren't built for the open source community and just end it there. They /could/ be.

devn20:11:27

@kurtlazarus: yeah, no more: "reminder: please use the pastebin"

devn20:11:41

also, everything is clearly /not/ great simple_smile

devn20:11:47

security implications for instance

kurtlazarus20:11:48

I work at a large university - slack would be great over there

kurtlazarus20:11:12

devn, go on about security implications

devn20:11:52

a lot of people don't know they can connect with SSL, or know how to, they don't hide their details, their IP might not be cloaked, etc.

devn20:11:22

there's a long history of exploits with CTCP and XDCC

kurtlazarus20:11:16

ah, thanks for the info

devn20:11:21

depending on the client the user is using for instance, there were things in the past where someone could accept an XDCC transfer on your behalf, and have your client run the file on your machine

devn20:11:45

i think a lot of that is pretty old news nowadays

devn20:11:59

my understanding is that networks have more control nowadays over those sorts of things

devn20:11:11

akiva20:11:28

My issues with IRC is that it requires extra effort for no real benefit; we’d lose a ton of features that Slack has. I’d have to install a bounce so I could continuously log things. I’m really fussy about naming so I doubt there’s an IRC network on the planet that doesn’t have my name already claimed by NickServ, etc. If we lose Slack, I seriously doubt I’d move to IRC.

richiardiandrea21:11:14

one thing to say is that Slack does not show the history (at least to me)
