They messed up and only took a regular donation. The upside was that I was done much faster so my wife didn't have to wait around after she also gave blood.
Certainly wished I was back in the UK yesterday... ...had to go to the ER (A&E) for chest pains, high heart rate (100 at rest), and shortness of breath. After a bunch of tests (ECG, X-ray, blood work), they determined I was dehydrated and my potassium was low. Total cost for the couple of hours there? Just over $900 -- and that was after a 20% discount for immediate payment. And the registration gal seems inordinately proud that they had charged me a $300 "emergency fee" and used up nearly all my insurance deductible in a single visit. Sigh. I love a lot about America but not its healthcare / insurance system đ
Surely you'd get cost 0 but looooonger waiting times than years ago. Sure, never ever to be swapped with the inhuman US system.
For non-ER, US waiting times can be pretty long. I had a CT scan for abdominal issues back in February, so I could get a referral for a GI specialist... and the earliest that specialist could take me was early July, so I'm looking forward to that in just over a week đ đ
