Morning, the sun is shining here in Alnwick, lovely walk with the dog up onto the moor earlier.

Looks up Alnwick on the map... dang that is pretty far up north... almost Scotland!

Yes, less than 30 miles from the border. It's the town where I grew up, work took me to other parts of the UK for 30+ years but I moved back here in 2022 when I started working 100% remote.

Mornin' All - sunny day here in Scotland!

seancorfield 2026-05-06T13:52:58.460349Z

Mornin'! We're having the usual wild swings of weather here in Ohio. Glorious sunshine and clear blue skies for a few days, temps 20-25F, then a thunderstorm, torrential rain, and today will barely reach 13C. Forecast is cold this week and next (with a warm weekend in between), and then weeks of mid-20s days and 10C nights... with intermittent (warm) rain. I still haven't gotten used to warm rain.

warm rain sounds weird indeed.

It is... last year was our first summer here, after 25+ years in the drought-wracked San Francisco Bay Area. We were used to some rain in late fall through early spring, when it was cooler, then absolutely no rain at all for about six months. Having weeks of mid-to-high-20s C with intermittent rain that did not change the temperature at all was a unique experience. I'm sure we'll get used to it after a few years. Most folks around here complain about the bitterly cold winters but like the summer -- we're the opposite: we loved the cold and snow this winter but we don't like heat and humidity!
