I asked mum this morning how the storm had affected them. She said they were lucky: no trees came down near them (lots of twigs and leaves) and they only lost power for an hour. They had an arborist scheduled to come and "top" all their trees, prior to the storm, and he turned up in the middle of it, said "Oh, it's not too bad -- I'll do the work" and when she expressed concern he said "If I don't do them today, they might come down on you tomorrow..." so she was glad to get the work done.
(she's in West Chiltington, W Sx)
Sounds like a brave lover of trees!
Morning.
