I love that we have "Morning" thirteen and a half hours apart there @paulspencerwilliams 🙂

seancorfield06:10:32

And "morning!" 🙂

paulspencerwilliams06:10:37

It’s a pretty wet and grim one here in the Midlands

djm06:10:50

👋

seancorfield06:10:46

My fam is from Wolverhampton and Walsall -- where are you @paulspencerwilliams?

djm06:10:04

I’m from Wolverhampton too.

Good Morning!

paulspencerwilliams06:10:34

I used to live in Walsall! I was born in West Bromwich and lived in Park Hall, Walsall until about 15 years ago. I subsequently moved to South Derbyshire near Burton on Trent

paulspencerwilliams06:10:46

Have you visited that area @seancorfield?

seancorfield06:10:28

Many times! Dad was from Walsall. Mum from Wolverhampton. Spent a lot of time there growing up. Some of the family are still there (mum's cousin June, her lives in Wombourne).

seancorfield06:10:01

We've been over for cat shows in the Midlands a few times in the last decade too.

seancorfield06:10:46

Dad was born in Rushall (I just looked that up).

paulspencerwilliams06:10:13

Cat shows! Oh dear, I love cats but I’d need a Prozac after visiting a show!

seancorfield06:10:36

One of our show cats:

seancorfield06:10:14

He was best Bengal cat in the world as a kitten -- and we showed him in Europe as well as America 🙂

paulspencerwilliams06:10:49

Where do you live now? I know Rushall fairly well, I used to ride through it on the way to Cannock Chase in my youth.

seancorfield06:10:48

I'm in California now. East Bay (30 miles from San Francisco, 30 miles from San Jose).

seancorfield06:10:46

Family moved South tho'... mum's in W Sussex, dad was in Devon for years (he passed in '17 I think...).

paulspencerwilliams06:10:40

I can’t imagine why you moved 😆 West Sussex is lovely.

seancorfield06:10:33

True, and I love visiting 🙂

seancorfield06:10:52

But it's nice being 5,500 miles away from family 😉

seancorfield06:10:05

I'm hoping we can get back soon to visit (mum is old and frail) but even though it sounds like they've loosened the testing requirements, cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are way high in the UK right now? Kinda scary...

paulspencerwilliams08:10:32

That’s right, stats aren’t looking good atm.

dharrigan12:10:51

Been playing around a little bit with Kotlin interop

dharrigan12:10:55

it's very easy

djm12:10:25

Clojure and Kotlin?

dharrigan13:10:55

a trivial example 🙂

djm13:10:24

It’s a shame that you can’t magically get the auto-properties stuff (thanks, JVM)

seancorfield17:10:12

https://github.com/seancorfield/boot-kotlinc -- not sure if that even works anymore -- but it was fun to explore the interop stuff.

dharrigan18:10:47

Interesting! It's nice that it's hosted on the JVM, just like Clojure, so it's pretty straightforward to interop (although haven't tried more of the esoteric stuff with Kotlin)

seancorfield19:10:34

The only reason we were able to introduce Clojure at work is that it's JVM-hosted and we could integrate it into our existing JVM-based apps (ColdFusion).
