turned out quite well...

guy09:05:28

damn that looks yummy!

yogidevbear17:05:36

Not jealous. Not at all jealous 😭

mccraigmccraig18:05:18

sadly all eaten now @U0MFQNXFZ... but I'm thinking of the next iteration

mccraigmccraig05:05:55

9.9/10 from the kids

mccraigmccraig05:05:11

although i think they are too easily swayed by any pile of sugar placed in front of them

seancorfield05:05:34

Those look yummy!

seancorfield05:05:16

(as long as they don't have peanut butter in?)

rhinocratic06:05:28

Today's baking exploits only include bread. Makes me wish I had the time to do this under "normal" circumstances - it's far more substantial than the Chorleywood fluff from the supermarket.

dominicm07:05:47

Morning. Katie did cookie bars. They're cookies but taller.

👌 4
mccraigmccraig07:05:55

lol, they are mostly peanut butter @seancorfield... in homage to reese's peanut butter cups

seancorfield17:05:02

Yeah, I looked over the recipe 😞 I'd want to do it without PB since I can't stand it -- I can't even stomach the smell of it.

mccraigmccraig17:05:05

without PB it would basically be chocolate digestive biscuits (since i sub'd grahams crackers for plain digestives, 'cos UK) - which is also not a bad thing

guy09:05:21

Do you find bread machines are cost effective? Or can they make better quality bread so its healthier?

mccraigmccraig10:05:33

bread machines are mostly super convenient - there are some shortcomings to the loafs (shape is fixed, there's a hole where the kneading paddle stopped), and there is some loss of flexibility (e.g. sourdough isn't possible with many machines), but you can put a bunch of ingredients into the machine in <2 mins and 3 hours later you reliably have a loaf

guy10:05:50

ahh thats a bummer no sourdough

mccraigmccraig10:05:58

for a given quality they are somewhat cheaper than shop-bought too, and you can make your own mixes of flours (we're mostly doing a spelt and rye mix atm, which results in quite a dense loaf)

guy10:05:03

Do you think gluten free bread is possible? stupid question i know haha

mccraigmccraig10:05:24

you can do sourdough - but you need to be careful about which bread machine you get, and it's probably going to be one of the more expensive ones

guy10:05:56

ah makes sense thanks!

mccraigmccraig10:05:00

i gather gluten-free is possible, although i've not tried

Gulli07:05:15

Is it bank holiday today or not? I'm getting conflicting reports

Gulli07:05:45

Mainly, there is childrens calendar in the kitchen that says it is, everything else says it's on the 8th

Gulli07:05:29

And I'm doubting the legitimacy of this children's calendar

😄 4
guy09:05:29

Well wasnt the bank holiday moved? There was some news about it

guy09:05:57

"In 2020, the Early May Bank Holiday will be moved to Friday, May 8 to coincide with Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, which marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe." from some google result

guy09:05:05

So the calendar was right i believe

Ben Hammond08:05:25

ah yes Victory in Europe Day

Ben Hammond08:05:37

Jerry gets got a pasting again

alexlynham07:05:51

there's some kind of baking arms race occurring on my street and I'm getting the benefits despite not actually baking myself

Ben Hammond08:05:08

does that mean you are viewed as an impartial judge?

Ben Hammond08:05:48

or a Noel Fielding type cheerleader?

alexlynham14:05:34

neither, I seem to get baked goods when made here, then receive them from neighbours despite doing none myself

guy09:05:14

Hey all, how do you/your companies check for vunerabilities in your clojure deps? I know about lein-nvd https://github.com/rm-hull/lein-nvd but I thought it only checked the java deps?

guy09:05:51

Morning!

agile_geek10:05:53

Morning everyone. How r ppl coping?

👋 24
guy10:05:56

Hey, yeah going ok thanks! My kids are finding it the toughest as they are so fully of energy haha

Ben Hammond10:05:51

its getting really tiresome... but better that watching people cough themselves to death ...

thomas11:05:15

Just about coping... at least the weather has improved so that is good.

rhinocratic11:05:46

I now have a clearer insight into why dogs chew furniture. Lots of spare time for coding, learning, writing, baking etc., which is great - but the need to earn an income is becoming pressing!

folcon13:05:27

Second rhinocratic =)…

Jakob Durstberger06:05:16

Not much has changed for me. I still work full time I just don’t have to take the tube every day. I am surprised how much I enjoy remote working after getting used to it but I wish I could just go out and see friends

mccraigmccraig10:05:31

hey @agile_geek, long time!

Ben Hammond10:05:59

hi guys; distasteful question; I am having problems with DLL loading into JVM on windows I have customised java.library.path and I strongly suspec that this only gets respected by the top layer generation of (System/loadLibrary, and sub-dependencies are determined by OperatingSystem. Does this ring any bells for anyone? Is there a decent soluttion (other than by calling System/loadLibrary in reverse dependency order from my code?

folcon13:05:37

Morn’

seancorfield17:05:39

Bummer 😞 They were the first band I ever saw live. At the Crawley Leisure Center, with Wire supporting.

rhinocratic20:05:09

Oh blimey. That's sad news indeed. One of my favourite bands.😢
