You know what - it's a fecking rabbit hole

first you need yarn, then you need react, then don't forget about babel, then add in webpack....and I'm still no closer....

but that's for so-called "modern" development in javascript

as for my javascript and mongo - about 10 lines in total, updating thousands of records

so, I'm happy for that.

it's a stack one can't hope to understand

I tell you, I'm in awe of our two JS devs for their ability to keep on top of that craziness...

It's utterly depressing that JS has become the lingua franca. I worked on a JS project for a year or so and used to joke that if something was confusing, just go for lunch, by the time you get back they would have changed the syntax anyway.
