Do you have any thoughts on who you would like to see at ClojureX 2019? The ClojureX program team will be deciding on speakers to invite to ClojureX 2019 in the next few weeks, so I would be interested to hear your thoughts. We will also be opening the call for talks soon.
It’s a given that Rich Hickey is a highly sought after speaker 😀
It is also worth noting that he has quite publicly said that he is doing his best to not only let others speak, but that he does not relish the attendant travel.
Not that it would not be marvellous to have him speak at Clojure eXchange (again), but I think that we can do as well looking at other candidates.
Which bit @lady3janepl
like what Japanese swordsmiths used to do (apparently), when one won top the awards in all competitions once, they’d get a title of master swordsmith and would no longer be eligible to participate
Interesting… I wonder if there may be another less altruistic benefit to this though; where they wanted to avoid being compared to other masters. Though to be honest judging things at that level to award something the honor of being best, seems pretty pointless.
ie. they want as many people to compete as possible, and it’d kill them if there were a persistent local winner
if you want to work on kixi.stats, now is your chance: https://clojurians.slack.com/archives/C06B40HMY/p1554977277024100
I'd be interested in hearing RH-like talks still though. He has a skill for turning things about the industry in their head.
👋 can anyone remember that clojure logging lib that lets you set the logging levels of ns via a function call, its not timbre though.
@maleghast oh yes, pls RT that job spec pls pls pls
I’d love to speak again but only because @thomas , @yogidevbear and @agile_geek would get upset that there was no one to heckle at.
And my AI talks are now completely redundant as Darcey has announced she’s leaving Strictly Come Dancing.
