nice frost in Perth this morning
morning
@ben.hammond - Oh yeah, the frost up in the top of Strathard this morning was LOVELY
Sawubona
My ride in this morning was... Well, I could still feel my fingers at the end of it. Toes not so much
My dear friends… Have any of you any experience whatsoever with Google Cloud’s Cloud ML Engine..?
It seems to almost be Serverless for ML, abstracting away the resources and just providing a set of conveniences on top of ML.
Serverless for ML, abstracting away the resources and just providing a set of conveniences
<< Pretty much.
@jasonbell - Thanks
The only way that GOOG, AWS, MSFT will get mass adoption in ML snake oil is to make it easier.
Yeah, I suppose so… I am trying to understand why the Data Scientists I am working with are so excited about it.
They’ll have their reasons but most of the time it’s down to making the cycle/process easier to deal with.
btw @jasonbell you forgot to mention IBM in that list.... ooh no, you didn't.
@jasonbell - Yeah, this is the fear I had; that the attraction is the process management rather than any real “business edge” in terms of performance or quality of outputs.
So the real question @maleghast is what are you trying to achieve?
Personally - understand why my Data team are pushing very hard to be allowed to diversify our hosting / infra into another Cloud Provider Data Team - They are using Google Earth Engine to get access to E/O Imagery and the people we are laising with at Google re getting access to GEE are encouraging them to use GCP and talking up the synergies of the tech / services on GCP as the obvious answer to doing analysis on GEE data.
@jasonbell - Answers ^^
Perhaps the key is understanding the problems the data team is having, have you sat down and talked to them about the need for the move?
@jasonbell - Well… I am in Scotland and they are in London, so I am going to be sitting down with them on Monday next week, and I am trying to get ready for that conversation so that I understand some of the issues
Should I feel flattered that someone has decided to pretend to be me, or faintly concerned
what what
pretended to be you?
