morning lovely people!

thomas08:12:27

And 48 letters have been sent to the 1922 commision. My prediction is that May will survive as there is no one who can unite the party anyway.

dominicm08:12:08

I've slept 10 hours the past 2 nights

dominicm08:12:08

I mean each night 😁

dominicm08:12:19

It feels good 😊

thomas09:12:02

aah... ok... I thought just 10 hours in 2 nights in total.

thomas09:12:12

in that case I am relieved!

thomas09:12:20

good for you!

otfrom09:12:43

@dominicm maybe @thomas was giving you hugs b/c really he needed them

thomas09:12:09

I need 10 hours of sleep!

thomas09:12:12

(per night)

Random question, do any of y’all use Wardley maps?

agile_geek09:12:29

I've looked at them briefly but never had the need. I prefer a more fluid approach using event storming but I guess they may have their place with strategic decisions. I hate to admit it but what put me off them was meeting Simon Wardley. He just came off too arrogant and I'm always suspicious of a technique the creator named after themselves. Smacks too much of self promotion and not enough of actual utility.

otfrom09:12:23

I have. They can be useful, but more for what they bring out in the discussion of creating them rather than as an artefact in themselves.

agile_geek09:12:22

@otfrom doesn't that tend to be the whole point of any of these techniques?

alexlynham09:12:58

I like that it's a structured way of visualising things... but I don't 100% see how it's better than a discussion around a whiteboard

3Jane09:12:07

I’m interested in them as a way of discovering time trends

otfrom09:12:07

@U79NZHC6A it should be a discussion around a whiteboard. The mapping just gives a framework for thinking about it

otfrom09:12:28

hmm... I'm not sure what you mean there @U82DUDVMH

3Jane09:12:00

His x line. How things change from discovery to commodity and back again

3Jane09:12:13

It helps to prioritise and categorise options that would otherwise be look samey

3Jane09:12:40

(Have not met the creator but I try not to avoid tools with obnoxious creators, otherwise a lot of the modern world would be hard to use :) )

3Jane09:12:15

Context, I’ve been thinking of ways to generate ideas for gaining competitive advantage and for identifying weak areas of a career. You know how many people talk about treating a career as a business?

alexlynham11:12:06

aha, like the erik dietrich thing

3Jane11:12:23

and ribbonfarm

3Jane11:12:43

you gonna like that

3Jane11:12:20

(which incidentally I found out about through reading Erik Dietrich’s book someone recommended to me. It always amazes me how laterally discovery process works)

agile_geek09:12:45

@otfrom we all need hugs from time to time. Just some more than others!

jasonbell09:12:59

bruce hugs are good hugs, regardless of tiredness.

morning morning

dominicm09:12:40

People offer free hugs outside the station. I assume they're pickpockets

jasonbell09:12:37

Hugs as a service (HaaS) there should be an app and everything….

3Jane09:12:16

And it buzzes as you get closer to another person in a hug seeking state

3Jane10:12:11

Bzz! Bzzz! “Aw mate, come here!” “Oh sorry that was just a text...”

thomas10:12:33

I am working on it!!!

danm10:12:34

I'm sure I saw something about this...

danm10:12:28

Someone made an app where you could request a hug from someone near you, but barely anyone downloaded it so mostly you just got there message "There is noone nearby to hug :(" and it was a bit of a flop

danm10:12:56

Problem is, it could quite conceivably have been a Black Mirror episode or something, and I have forgotten that bit

otfrom11:12:19

Hugr

😂 12
jasonbell11:12:45

Someone in Denmark will do a cease and desist….

thomas12:12:45

we'll give them a hug. that will sort it out.

There is no contributors section in the readme? I feel like it would be great to have an easy to use / fully featured web stack, so I’m somewhat curious about contributing (but not promising anything!)

dominicm10:12:12

There's some guidelines in the docs, what is it you're looking for exactly? I've probably overlooked it 😊
