Morning morning

guy08:10:46

Morning folks!

alexlynham10:10:01

(repeatedly "C-x u")

mccraigmccraig10:10:47

@alex.lynham it didn't do any edit... it appears to have made all my fonts larger, across all windows

alexlynham10:10:23

oh, I did that at my talk the other week (somebody called out the emacs 'font size +' command) and then picard-facepalm after as I had to look up in the docs how to undo

3Jane10:10:57

(insert evil laugh here)

mccraigmccraig11:10:09

@alex.lynham i know how to do it for a single window, but not for the all windows in one hit... still mystified

alexlynham11:10:06

alexlynham11:10:25

sorry I'll go and do some work now, I'm not being helpful

otfrom11:10:38

@mccraigmccraig might M-x view-lossage help you out?

mccraigmccraig11:10:29

ooo - if i had known about that a while back it would certainly have helped @otfrom... my challenge is to remember it for next time

practicalli-johnny11:10:40

@mccraigmccraig sounds like you zoomed the frame (`SPC z f`) rather than scaling the font in a buffer (`SPC z x`). Its very common for developers to have no clue how to scale the font size quickly regardless of IDE/editor used. If you are doing demos to work colleagues or public speaking, scaling the font of your code is an important thing to practice. Also you should check you can read your code from the back of the room you are showing it in (before you start)

thomas11:10:43

and also make sure you use something that has plenty of contrast...

practicalli-johnny11:10:03

dark backgrounds are pretty bad for presenting. i switch to spacemacs-light theme when i am presenting (or travelling on the train when its sunny)

thomas11:10:19

so don't use a dark background in a room with lots of sunlight. this happened to a friend someone I know.

mccraigmccraig11:10:15

well zooming the frame certainly undoes what i did @jr0cket ... although i managed to do it with a single key-chord, rather than the SPC z f transient state

practicalli-johnny12:10:28

its just a function call, eg. spacemacs/zoom-frm-transient-state/spacemacs/zoom-frm-in so you could just describe function and see if there is a binding...

mccraigmccraig12:10:38

apparently not... but i'm happy enough having learnt how to zoom the frame ๐Ÿ™‚ thanks @jr0cket

practicalli-johnny12:10:14

No problem. Its reminded me to tweak the page in my Spacemacs book on fonts and zooming... https://practicalli.github.io/spacemacs/install-spacemacs/change-font.html
