I see java 8 as the last stable one

Looking at the support plans, it seems that the "safest" path is to stay on 8 until Java 11 is available?

Given the disruptive aspects of Java 9's modules, I am in no hurry to migrate to it. I figure they'll sort it out in a couple of versions 🙂

what I don't understand is: given the emphasis Brian Goetz has claimed to put on backwards compatibility in one of the talk he gave (conj?) how come it is so broken suddenly.

Yeah, I wondered about that. Did it not break Java programs too? I know it broke Clojure programs.

it suspect it has... it certainly broke things that use the java 1.0 date/time classes. while they have been deprecated since 1.1 version 9 actually removed them.

and by some definition a clojure program is a java program and thus it broke java programs

java has decided to match the rest of the programming ecosystem, hence the rapid release cycle and willingness to break backwards compatibility.

can't remember, but there are a few. sometimes if you search for java date/time classes you see things that have been deprecated.

but these things have been deprecated for about 20 years.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of stuff listed as deprecated in 9, but nothing actually removed.

Morning. I am talking to JCenter to see if they will mirror http://clojars.org. I'm detailing my progress in the #clojars channel. Reason for the ask is that I am behind a firewall that doesn't give access to clojars, so limits how many teams I can convince to use Clojure (although I have converted some). The company has a very well managed artifactory service that mirrors Maven Central and JCenter. If I get clojars added to JCenter, then it's one important bottleneck removed from further Clojure adoption.

Oh and I just saw that Clojars now runs through a content delivery network (CDN) at https://repo.clojars.org

not enough coffee: you make typos, but you don’t understand what you’ve just written, so you re-read it again just enough coffee: you stop making spelling errors too much coffee: you make typos, but your hands shake so much that you fix them by making other typos way too much coffee, aka caffeine poisoning: perpetual motion sickness

(In days of misspent youth I went to a gaming night at a friend’s summer house. We ran out of mugs so we filled a large salad bowl full of hot water and lots of instant coffee and stuck a ladle in it, ending up with a sort of caffeine punch bowl. The morning after was… interesting.)

I suspect where "morning" is not defined by waking up?

Why are my hands shaking so much?

too much is so much that you start getting migraines and have to quit coffee - which in my case was surprisingly little (no punch bowls for me!)

morning was defined primarily by when the bus home showed up

i only get the migraines when i quit @peterwestmacott and it's so easy to backslide

I don't drink any coffee and the tea I drink (mostly) is some sort of green tea, so should be 'light' in that respect. and if I drink some coke in the afternoon I have trouble falling asleep.

It’s green (leafy) tea with roasted rice grains, and it smells like freshly cooked rice after you brew it (but contrary to what you might expect, it doesn’t turn into rice soup). I love the smell

I buy all my coffee online from Peet's and mostly choose Indonesian or African single source, with a few blends from time to time 🙂

I don't believe I know... Did some Google-ing to figure out if I was familiar by another name, but honestly I don't think I've ever had it. From what I am reading I would like to drink it... 😉
