mccraigmccraig08:04:21

on a train from hastings up to the smoke πŸš‚

danm08:04:37

Which bit of the Lakes? We were at Windermere last weekend with the dog. He was loving the swimming

yogidevbear13:04:25

@carr0t we're at lake Windermere, near Ambleside

danm13:04:27

Nice πŸ™‚

danm08:04:02

This weekend was less interesting, as I was mostly playing Elite: Dangerous with friends πŸ˜‰

mccraigmccraig08:04:52

is it good @carr0t ? i put Β£50 into the crowdfund, but have signally failed to play it yet

danm08:04:10

Heh. Well, I've sunk hundreds of hours into it over the past few years and still enjoy it

danm08:04:52

But I can't argue with people who say it's not very 'deep', or that it's a massive grind. I'm enjoying it primarily because I have a good group of folks some of whom I know in the real world too who I play with and chat on Discord while playing etc

danm08:04:18

If I was just playing on my own I think I'd have got bored long ago. It is still sometimes good to play solo occasionally though

danm08:04:05

If you ever do boot it up feel free to add me. It's easier to experience the game if you head in to try things with a larger ship as backup/defense

Aleksander09:04:37

Hi @otfrom! hahah, this is probably my third login to clojurians but this time I'll stick to it!

Aleksander09:04:42

Hello everyone!

Aleksander09:04:44

By the way: anyone interested in reviving the Wednesday Clojurians Borough Market lunches?

Aleksander09:04:41

There still seems to be quite a big concentration of Clojure companies with uSwitch, Funding Circle, Health Unlocked, Agents Mutual, and YouView around

Aleksander09:04:49

anyone that I've missed?

Aleksander09:04:43

and signal !

mccraigmccraig09:04:41

yapster @aleksander, although we are only ever around london on mondays

Rachel Westmacott10:04:50

If it was a Tuesday/Thursday I’d be interested…

maleghast14:04:27

Morning All - I know I am late but I've been a bit "head down"

maleghast14:04:37

How is everybody doing?

danm15:04:51

The windows are too big, it is too warm πŸ˜‰

maleghast15:04:22

@carr0t - Where are you..?

danm15:04:50

Manchester

danm15:04:24

It's actually quite grey right now, but I work right next to some giant glass windows on the 4th floor that face the sun for most of the working day, so it gets quite warm quite easily

@carr0t - A small price to pay for being in such an awesome city πŸ˜‰

danm16:04:52

True, true

danm16:04:05

Are you based up here now, or did you just grow up here or something?

dominicm16:04:14

What's manchester like, adjectives other than "awesome" that is.

danm16:04:22

Um. Not sure what you're looking for really πŸ˜‰ It's got good public transport (Trams mainly, bus sometimes if trams are busted or you're further out), good shopping and other amenities that you'd expect from a big city, without being anything like as large as London or Birmingham

danm16:04:38

I'm a country boy by heart, so living on the outskirts of Mancs is about as city as I can comfortably get

danm16:04:58

We're on the river, so lots of green nearby to walk the mutt

danm16:04:50

By the time I moved here I was a bit old to want to be heading out clubbing of a weekend, but apparently it's quite good for that. Got a small chinatown, good selection of good restaurants all over the place

danm16:04:18

The Christmas markets each year are good. The roads are horrible and full of potholes, but they've just allocated a chunk of cash to try and fix that and are also building more in the way of cycleways etc which is good for me

danm16:04:49

But the roads and traffic really are rubbish. Though London traffic is still much worse again

mccraigmccraig16:04:23

it rains quite a lot more than brighton and london, but less than bergen

4
mccraigmccraig16:04:16

it has great countryside (the peak district is ace)... much better than anywhere in the SE

otfrom16:04:42

MCR is all rain. L'pool is wind and rain. I know. I used to live in Merseyside. πŸ˜‰
