Mornin' π
(he says, at midnight)
BTW, I'll be in the UK for the week around around 7/7 -- my birthday -- just in case there are any interesting Clojure-related events at that time?
that's ok @seancorfield we use UGT here.
Indeed, I am a huge advocate of UGT!
(and most youngsters need a link to read about what UGT is!)
@seancorfield we post that link here a lot π
I'm looking forward to visiting in July. My last visit was under less than ideal circumstances (dealing with my dad's estate after he passed away in May), and I'd already had a planned visit a few weeks earlier...
I love living here in California (in the Bay Area) but I really do miss several aspects of England...
what do you miss most from England @seancorfield?
The pub culture. And decent curry.
That said, our local Indian restaurant here is unusually good. And they've learned that when I say "spicy" I actually mean it π
But I really do miss just being able to meet friends "down tha' pub"... the local bars here are just... well... not pubs.
When I come back to visit, I really love how we can all just go to whatever local pub there is and sit around drinking and chatting and relaxing. America really doesn't have that. "Bars" are not pubs.
when I was in SF we found a very pub-like bar run by an Aussie, somewhere not far from fisherman's wharf. But I suspect given the location it was more of a tourist trap than a local's place
So, while I have a waking UK audience... how many of you are fans of The Fall? I've been listening to their albums non-stop since I heard Mark E. Smith died on Wednesday. Almost no one has heard of them in America π
All who know of UGT are itβs fans.
@seancorfield Excellent in small doses.
i prefer to call it UTG in deference to our french neighbours
I have been asked to make changes to an existing Google Web Toolkit (GWT) app.... extra-complected is to kind for it I think.
