@maleghast I think you have that confused with the right side of the Pennines. Everyone knows Yorkshire is on the right side and Lancashire is on the wrong side.

maleghast07:10:17

@otfrom Oooooooooh! *seethes*

maleghast07:10:50

I am a Lancastrian born and bred, so Iā€™ll never accept such calumny, howeverā€¦ I have no interest in being a dick about it šŸ˜‰

iaint07:10:54

anyone got any preference for red or white? runs away

otfrom08:10:27

I was born in Yorkshire, but the doctor worked out when I was conceived and it sounds like it happened when my parents were on a transatlantic flight. They deny everything.

otfrom08:10:37

Yorkshire born. Transatlantic bred?

jonpither08:10:01

An interesting way of gaining access to the mile high club.

danm08:10:25

@maleghast Oh I don't know about that šŸ˜‰ Grew up in Cornwall, only came to Lancashire for Uni

danm08:10:56

Still there to work, ish. Greater Manchester. But end up going into Cheshire with the cycle club quite a lot

danm08:10:25

Lancashire, at least up in Lancaster and the Lakes, is basically just like Cornwall but North šŸ˜‰ And with more money

maleghast08:10:09

@otfrom - You are proof indeed that Yorkshire is pretty awesome, I will concede that, but Lancashire will always be a teeny bit better, but thatā€™s unavoidable in this situation, I reckon šŸ˜‰

maleghast08:10:43

@otfrom - As for your origin story hat off; as I understand it mine is a LOT more mundane šŸ˜‰

maleghast08:10:58

@carr0t - I agree with you on the idea of a Northern Cornwall, but with more money - thatā€™s about right I reckon šŸ™‚ I was born in Manchester and raised in the Ribble Valley (ish), so ā€œhomeā€ for me is Chorley, with stomping grounds of Adlington, Horwich, Bolton, Ecclestone, Euxton etcā€¦ Of course I disavow Preston. As we Chorley folk like to say ā€œThereā€™s nā€™owt stranger than folk; apart from Preston folk.ā€œ šŸ˜‰

maleghast08:10:18

@iain.tatch - Red Roses, obvsā€¦ šŸ˜‰

danm08:10:11

Lancs/York Unis still have the Roses sporting competition each year

danm08:10:18

Sadly York seem to win nearly all the time šŸ˜‰

danm08:10:32

And Lancs is still bitter about not being allowed into the Russell Group too

thomas08:10:44

moin moin morning

maleghast08:10:22

@carr0t - Thereā€™s the Roses Cricket Match(es) as wellā€¦ šŸ˜‰

jonpither08:10:21

wonder if a Datomic UK users group would be handy. A meetup in London where pro users can exchange war stories

jonpither08:10:45

and for newbies looking to derisk their choice

guy09:10:50

Morning!

maleghast09:10:12

@jonpither - Would definitely be of interest to me, but I wonā€™t be in London much before the end of November nowā€¦ I suppose itā€™ll be a while before you are up and running, right?

jasonbell10:10:43

@otfrom ā€œTransatlantic bredā€ thatā€™s the new Hovis range, Iā€™m sure of it.

danielneal10:10:39

šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚ šŸ˜‚

sundarj19:10:35

https://imgur.com/a/hcKuN intriguing, like everything in this book (Quirkology)

dominicm20:10:15

@sundarj missing a bit of context I think

sundarj21:10:41

it's a book of unusual (quirky) psychological studies into everyday behaviour

sundarj21:10:32

that is an excerpt of one of them

sundarj21:10:17

they quantified the pace of life in those cities by measuring how fast people walked
