@sundarj I haven't used it, so I don't really know how it works, but [xforms](https://github.com/cgrand/xforms) does indeed have a reduce transducer.

sundarj08:10:13

oh wow, very cool!

thomas07:10:59

day off.... and going to blighty tomorrow for a couple of days. first time since we left.

dominicm07:10:52

Had a stressful couple weeks, starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel though.

dominicm07:10:58

What's Blighty?

otfrom07:10:51

@thomas enjoy your travels to the soggy island

mccraigmccraig07:10:58

presumably much soggier from your current perspective @otfrom?

jonpither07:10:16

Morning. Unlucky day today. Beware

dominicm08:10:45

Contrastly: I was born Friday the 13th, it's the best day

Rachel Westmacott08:10:14

@jonpither Don’t you know it’s bad luck to be superstitious?

mccraigmccraig08:10:04

if friday the 13th does indeed carry a higher risk of 'bad' things happening then, discarding the idea of a malevolent deity numerologically altering the laws of physics, the source of the risk must be worry about the risk itself, so it would be better to wish people to: have a carefree day y'all

jonpither08:10:16

I don't believe in God but I'm scared of him - the usual suspects movie

Rachel Westmacott08:10:23

that sounds like “Pascal’s wager”

otfrom08:10:30

@mccraigmccraig nice and sunny in Dundee. I think @maleghast steals all the rain before it gets this far east.

rickmoynihan09:10:07

Scotlands sunniest city! (Doesn’t say much) lol.

jasonbell08:10:30

Northern Ireland weather doing it’s “cloudy with slithers of optimism”

danm10:10:17

Just got hit by the tail end of a heavy shower when I was almost in the office 😕

danm10:10:29

Didn't have waterproof overshoes on

maleghast10:10:14

@otfrom - I absolutely steal the rain; it is coming down like stair rods here today 🙂

maleghast10:10:18

Morning All 🙂

maleghast10:10:51

@peterwestmacott - That is__ Pascal’s wager

jonpither12:10:13

Pascal's wager doesn't scale for different dieties. Not a very good wager.

danielneal12:10:58

can you invest in a deity index that tracks them all

yolina12:10:33

Hello lovely people, anyone has any idea for how many years have we had the london clojure community running for? Ie dojos and meetups and things?

danielneal13:10:43

I remember going to a clojure exchange back in 2012

danielneal13:10:41

@otfrom was probably there right at the beginning though, so might be able to give you an earlier date...

reborg13:10:08

I remember attending my first Sept 2010 clj-dojo and it was already running for a few months at that point.

reborg14:10:31

The dojo was working on the mythical clork adventure prj at that time: https://github.com/otfrom/clork

otfrom14:10:09

1st dojo was the end of June 2009 IIRC

otfrom14:10:34

Robert Rees tricked me into running more after that dojo. Still not sure why he picked me (I might have said "this is great. there should be more")

otfrom14:10:56

we only ran dojos for a few years. Talks were later

otfrom14:10:34

the first dojos were at Thoughtworks

otfrom14:10:50

we were doing clork b/c the pyhon dojo was doing a long running text adventure dojo then too

yolina14:10:21

Awesome, thanks :)

otfrom14:10:30

@yolina happy to reminisce, but what do you need the info for?

yolina14:10:49

@otfrom I am doing a lighting talk at an internal ThoughtWorks away day about ClojureBridge and the London Clojure community in an attempt to inspire people to go and do bridges in their favourite communities. So I wanted to use some trivia :)

dominicm21:10:43

Rich advocates avoiding conditionals in favour of rules: https://github.com/matthiasn/talk-transcripts/raw/master/Hickey_Rich/SimpleMadeEasy/00.28.50.jpg Wondering if any of you have managed to use rule engines in your software?

mccraigmccraig21:10:38

last time i tried to use a rules engine was about 20 years ago... it didn't work out very well - unintended rule interactions made it hard to make it behave well - but that may be because i didn't know what i was doing 😬
