Morning beautiful people ☀️

guy07:10:55

morning 😄

yogidevbear07:10:51

One week from now I'll be anxiously waiting to stand in front of 50 devs and give my first public talk

yogidevbear07:10:13

Nervous and excited at the same time

guy07:10:01

exciting!

guy07:10:13

Whatever happens im sure it will be a great learning experience

yogidevbear08:10:10

It has been so far simple_smile

guy07:10:15

Whats your talk on?

yogidevbear08:10:29

It's an intro level Clojure talk. I'm covering the data types and collection types, sequences, reduce, count, filter and map.

yogidevbear08:10:09

With a bit of live demo in-between

guy09:10:03

Nice one! if its recorded i would totally watch it. Always nice to go over things 😄

yogidevbear10:10:39

Much to my dismay 😉 I think they are trying to arrange some university students to record the sessions 😱 so you might get your wish

guy10:10:44

awesome 😄

Rachel Westmacott13:10:38

If it’s recorded you can watch it back afterwards for extra feedback!

thomas07:10:49

moin moin morning

jonpither08:10:41

Morning peeps

danm08:10:20

But that'll probably only be to 10-12 people, it's a small meetup

yogidevbear10:10:39

Nice @carr0t - wish mine was to a smaller audience 😉

danielneal11:10:43

when you do talks do you have to hide you in your slides or does the rule not apply because you are already giving the talk

otfrom12:10:09

@danieleneal my talks already look stupid b/c I'm doing it, so I don't need to include me in the deck

otfrom12:10:18

I'm not sure if this is more or less painful for audiences

yogidevbear12:10:48

I would think it would depend on both the speaker and the audience. Giving some context of your background may help to set tone/expectation for the audience?

thomas12:10:58

any good clj(s) talk includes a pic of @otfrom.... and this includes his own talks!

danm13:10:23

I am lost

otfrom17:10:33

I've done some organising in London and people are kind when they tease me by putting pictures of me in their talks

otfrom13:10:10

an old joke, well past its sell by date

jasonbell13:10:40

I’m Spartacus!

danielneal13:10:10

no I am spartacus

otfrom13:10:11

no, I am Spartacus

maleghast13:10:38

We are all Bruce, yet there is only one Bruce 😉

maleghast13:10:47

Morning All 🙂

yogidevbear13:10:37

Morning Bruce

otfrom14:10:18

g'day Bruce

Rachel Westmacott14:10:59

When either of my kids break wind, they both shout “I’m Fartacus”. True story.

maleghast14:10:03

@peterwestmacott - Oh that’s epic! Well done them 🙂

Rachel Westmacott14:10:00

We’re encouraging them to be comfortable with their own bodily functions.

maleghast14:10:48

Wise indeed 🙂

mccraigmccraig15:10:37

@peterwestmacott they need encouragement ?

Rachel Westmacott15:10:45

If left to their own devices, no. If surrounded by what passes for society… I’d rather not take the risk.

guy16:10:21

100kloc, but how many coffees?

guy16:10:30

The coffee count is the real indicator of madness

mccraigmccraig16:10:37

how would i even measure that ? we never check coffees in to git

guy16:10:26

Maybe you could ?

dominicm16:10:11

Would the real Bruce please stand up?

otfrom17:10:50

All those other Bruces are just imitating

dominicm19:10:27

Can't be Bruce. He has a tattoo of his own face on his chest.

dominicm19:10:33

And all his sharks.

sundarj19:10:15

i wonder if it's possible to make a reduce transducer

sundarj19:10:08

so that (transduce (comp (map :someCount) (reduce +)) + 0 [{:name "Foo", :someCount 18} {:name "Bar", :someCount 24}]) would work

sundarj19:10:35

actually that doesn't make much sense does it

sundarj19:10:55

(transduce (map :someCount) + 0 [{:name "Foo", :someCount 18} {:name "Bar", :someCount 24}]) is it

jasonbell20:10:29

@peterwestmacott I would use that in my ClojureX talk but it would go against community guidelines…..
