@seancorfield thanks for the update on tooling re: Expectations. I'll take a look but I'm conforming to the common denominator at my current client which is clojure.test atm.

Quiet in 'ere today...

mccraigmccraig13:05:32

/me head down, deadlines approaching

maleghast13:05:01

I hear ya - I need to get more done than I am getting done...

agile_geek13:05:11

I'm picking through some complex code spread across two code bases trying to work out how it parses and enriches textual data with tags that can be used to search and organise products.....and I keep losing my mental model!

maleghast13:05:33

Stop looking at Slack! 😉

agile_geek13:05:37

I look at Slack after I lose my mental model....which means approx every 3-5 mins!

dominicm14:05:09

I find I get pre-meeting anxiety. If I know an interruption is coming, I cannot focus.

agile_geek14:05:38

I 'pomodoro' when I need to concentrate so I always break after 25 mins anyway.

chrjs15:05:31

But do you pomodoro with a 12,000 USD timer? (This was posted to our team slack for a similar discussion an hour ago). https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/marc-newson-hourglass-limited-edition-for-hodinkee

otfrom15:05:13

org-pomodoro for me

otfrom15:05:59

get my tasks out of pivotal using pivotal-mode, turn them into org-tasks (need to automate that), pomodoro my way through the work while taking notes in org-mode

maleghast15:05:32

I need to get to grips with org-mode

maleghast15:05:55

I mean I am coding in Emacs all the time, but I need to level up again so that I can just live in it.

agile_geek15:05:34

@otfrom ditto org-pomodoro

agile_geek15:05:28

Altho my tasks atm come out of JIRA (love it or loathe it)

agile_geek16:05:01

@otfrom haven't tried it.

mccraigmccraig16:05:30

ha, there is org-trello too!

dominicm16:05:11

It's a shame nobody has come up with a way of running multiple applications side by side  Could call it a "system" for "operating"

maleghast16:05:21

Bit off-topic, but is anyone aware of which pub people go to after the TW dojo, these days?

maleghast16:05:38

I can't make the dojo, but would be fun to see people for a drink-y

otfrom16:05:44

@dominicm that's what I use emacs for. 😉

dominicm16:05:18

@otfrom But what launches the emacs (I know this, it's a meta-circular launcher!)

dominicm16:05:56

http://www.informatimago.com/linux/emacs-on-user-mode-linux.html unless you're using this. Then I will be appeased by Emacs as an OS.

otfrom16:05:19

well, emacs integrates so many other things that you might as well run it on GNU/Linux with the high quality GNU toolchain 😉

dominicm16:05:32

I'm surprised GNU don't have a guille based os that runs on hurd.

agile_geek16:05:29

@maleghast the TW dojo usually finishes about 10pm so most people go home. A few might hang around but no idea what watering hole they frequent.

mccraigmccraig16:05:18

The GNU Hurd is under active development. Because of that, there is no stable version.

maleghast16:05:45

@agile_geek - Wow, really? I don't remember it going that late "back in the day"... Oh well. Sadly I can't make it in time to eat pizza and contribute to voting, and I don't want to be a disruptive late-arriver, so I will go to the next one that I am in Town for.

agile_geek16:05:07

@maleghast just turn up. I know Yolina won't mind

agile_geek16:05:52

It usually doesn't get going properly until close after 7:30 anyway

maleghast16:05:46

I might not get there until 2000h, and that's assuming that the late meeting I have does not turn into dinner, which is a reasonably likely risk...

maleghast16:05:59

But if I can get away with "just turn up" then I might well
