Morning (from an overcast West Sussex โ˜๏ธ)

thomas07:05:34

morning ๐Ÿ˜ผ ๐Ÿ‘‹

thomas07:05:52

overcast and a bit of rain here in Rotterdam... ๐Ÿ˜ž

Rachel Westmacott08:05:30

overcast and quite rainy in Surrey

agile_geek08:05:34

Datomic is doing my head in this morning!

practicalli-johnny08:05:23

Iโ€™ve added a message about ClojureX call for papers being open in the announcements channel, just in case you were thinking of speaking this year

agile_geek08:05:25

I am trying to query between two datetimes where the query needs to determine the state of many attributes across a one to many relationship. I tried using d/history and d/log` but the best I can come up with is to determine if any of the attributes I care about have changed between two txns (times) and then iterate over the list of entity/txn pairs getting a database instance as-of that txn and querying it's state. As this amounts to 10's of thousands of db instances per day it seems like a lot of work!

agile_geek08:05:49

since doesn't help as I have an upper bound on time

yogidevbear09:05:00

@jr0cket Do you also organise HaskellX?

practicalli-johnny09:05:00

@yogidevbear Not yet ๐Ÿ™‚ No, unfortunately I dont organise HaskellX, but I would be willing to helpโ€ฆ I can find out who the organisers are though (may take a few days)

yogidevbear09:05:11

I didn't know about it until yesterday. I'm coming to ClojureX this year (YAY :the_horns:). Maybe I'll aim to attend HaskellX next year simple_smile... Baby steps

practicalli-johnny10:05:53

@yogidevbear I will be at HaskellX this year, so happy to share my experiences.. although Clojure will remain my true calling ๐Ÿ™‚

chrjs11:05:03

Morninโ€™. โ˜•

thomas15:05:55

this is going to be very very messy IMHO.

Rachel Westmacott15:05:02

I think it is already messy.

yogidevbear15:05:37

Anyone here know of a Clojure company based in Kensington?

dominicm16:05:23

MailOnline maybe?

yogidevbear16:05:14

Ah... Says media organisation so guessing that sounds about right

dominicm16:05:13

Yeah, head office is kensington ๐Ÿ™‚

mccraigmccraig16:05:10

not terribly sad, but a little bit sad - i keep having to change them to streams

mccraigmccraig16:05:37

today i need a callback to return a promise, which knocks down a couple of dominos such that i have to recast my db select operation on top of a stream-based operation

mccraigmccraig16:05:11

otoh lazy-seqs seem a fair bit faster than (manifold) streams

dominicm16:05:23

Sounds like a bucket brigade ๐Ÿ˜›

mccraigmccraig16:05:28

ha, yeah, promises & cps do both seem like that

thomas17:05:27

@peterwestmacott that might be the worst of it... that it will only get messier the next 2 years ๐Ÿ˜ž

dominicm18:05:15

> 2015 Oops, I thought it was this year for some reason...

dominicm19:05:38

Actually, I'm confused: > Originally published: March 16, 2017 ^^ that's somewhere else

dominicm19:05:57

O'Reilly says 2017. Sticking with that. Just came out ๐Ÿ˜Ž

yogidevbear19:05:25

@dominicm that book looks like a seriously thorough piece of work

dominicm19:05:05

30, 5 star reviews on O'Reilly. I'm sceptical they might be fake, but it's still pretty good
