@jasonbell morning Jase.... how's things?

agile_geek09:02:02

My typing skills get worse as I get older!

jasonbell09:02:54

Good thanks @agile_geek unless someone has told you something and I should be worried? Is my good leg going to drop off? Thatโ€™s the last thing I need ๐Ÿ™‚

agile_geek09:02:08

@jasonbell you really think I know more than I do! Just being friendly...I know.. you should be suspicious right?

jasonbell09:02:47

That hour on the train north from York, all the rules change ๐Ÿ˜‰

jasonbell09:02:58

Iโ€™m good thanks mate, how are you keeping?

agile_geek09:02:04

I'm fine thanks. The wilds of Northumberland haven't killed me yet...nor the pollution of London!

jasonbell09:02:05

Good good, donโ€™t want you keeling over before ClojureX do we.

agile_geek09:02:33

Not sure if I'm going yet

yogidevbear11:02:41

Does anyone know what the price of the ClojureX tickets goes up to after today? Is it full price or a gradual/staggered price increase ?

jasonbell11:02:45

@agile_geek I'm fairly sure you're not.

agile_geek11:02:54

@yogidevbear I don't know but I think it's a gradual price increase

agile_geek11:02:33

@jasonbell right, fair enough...I know when I'm not wanted!

yogidevbear11:02:41

Well, if my boss drags his feet, I might be finding out the hard way tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜‰

practicalli-johnny15:02:56

@yogidevbear the ClojureX conference price goes up another ยฃ100 + VAT at the end of the day

yogidevbear15:02:36

Perfect. Thanks for letting me know ๐Ÿ™‚

practicalli-johnny15:02:29

It will continue to jump up until it's nearly 600 + vat over the next 6 months

practicalli-johnny15:02:16

We have invited Malcolm Sparks to be a speaker this year and we will be having project updates from James Reeves as well as the author of Klipse

yogidevbear15:02:14

Do you guys do a "Here's some literature to convince your boss to send staff" pdf type thing? ๐Ÿ˜‰

jonpither15:02:08

I am right now going to hand over 150 USD to a Russian on Freelancer to create a LaTeX template so I can generate convincing PDFs from Org-mode

jasonbell15:02:31

The hardest thing about Clojure right now is convincing @agile_geek that I'm not called Jade.

practicalli-johnny15:02:31

@yogidevbear sorry, no, but it's a great idea. Maybe before the next price increase

practicalli-johnny15:02:06

@yogidevbear You could always suggest to one of the organisers that you would be a good speaker to have.

yogidevbear15:02:12

I'm trying to figure out who's trolling... Jade or Chris troll

yogidevbear15:02:35

Ha, I'd love to convince them, but I doubt I'd bring enough value... yet

practicalli-johnny15:02:30

That's what everyone thinks... but if you are working with Clojure then you have something to share

yogidevbear15:02:08

What sort of talks would you be looking for?

practicalli-johnny15:02:11

I plan to do a new speaker workshop when we open the ClojureX CfP process..

practicalli-johnny15:02:49

There will be suggested topics on the CfP form... we love experience reports too... but essentially anything Clojurey is of interest

practicalli-johnny15:02:14

That includes Clojurescripty too...

practicalli-johnny15:02:48

I am happy to review any talk ideas at any time until we have a full schedule. Feel free to send me a direct message if you want to discuss

thomas15:02:13

@jasonbell I thought you suffer from the opposite... getting convinced to do talks at conferences?

yogidevbear15:02:37

I just got approval from my boss parrot ๐Ÿ˜„

reborg15:02:20

It would be nice to see many more women speaking this year. 50% would be a dream and a successful result on its own.

jasonbell15:02:00

@yogidevbear It was @agile_geek autocorrect changing Jase to Jade. It kinda stuck.... only in his head though.

agile_geek15:02:25

Oh and in @otfrom's I think you'll find

jasonbell15:02:58

Only because he was copied in.

jasonbell15:02:15

@thomas I love doing talks, Iโ€™m a proper pain in the backside ๐Ÿ™‚ Iโ€™ve been asked to do panels before as I never tow the line, speaks me mind and all that

practicalli-johnny16:02:16

@jasonbell if thats the case then I'd expect you to give an awesome talks at this years ClojureX, if you are conductive to that idea

jasonbell16:02:41

I'd love to ๐Ÿ™‚

jasonbell16:02:24

What I want to do is "Onyx with 30,000 Nodes" but as it stands I'm a few nodes short ๐Ÿ™‚

practicalli-johnny16:02:57

@reborg if there are 15 people that will each encourage and support a woman to speak at ClojureX, I think we have a chance (so long as its not 15 people for the same woman).

practicalli-johnny16:02:59

@jasonbell so I'll discuss your "Onyx with approximately 29,998 Nodes" with the other organisers then ๐Ÿ˜‰

jasonbell16:02:19

Ha! It's more than that! Just....

jasonbell16:02:23

No it's not....

reborg16:02:08

@jr0cket assuming they need that support, yes and count me in (I can suggest a few names)

practicalli-johnny16:02:36

@reborg yes please. Feel free to suggest anyone we can reach out to (you can use a slack dm or twitter dm @jr0cket) if you prefer

yogidevbear21:02:03

Yay!! ClojureX ticket booked and paid for! Woot woot parrot
