Train is racing thru heavy fog in the Yorkshire Moors atm very spooky

paulspencerwilliams07:12:59

@agile_geek yeah, driving in was tricky this morning.

paulspencerwilliams08:12:32

@agile_geek some of my favourite hill walks have been accross the Dark Peak in heavy fog. Micronavigating, counting steps, leap frog etc. Great fun, and rocks like the salt cellar (http://www.go4awalk.com/userpics/benstafford7.php) really add mood to a walk

One of the best bits about living in Sheffield - that whole area is right on my doorstep

paulspencerwilliams09:12:26

@glenjamin lucky git! I love that area. I was being mountain bike coached a couple of weeks ago at Grenocide. In the snow. And then Parkwood?

glenjamin09:12:37

Yeah, I'm a roadie so not been out to parkwood, but got a few friends who do

glenjamin09:12:03

It's about 5 mins from where I live, and cycling into the peaks is about 15mins :)

paulspencerwilliams09:12:05

Yeah, my coach raves about Sheffield being the greenist city in the country, and how much investment the council is putting into sport. I also have road bike btw. I do like tarmac occasionally. My roadbike challenge this year is to ride up Winnats pass from home (~65 hilly miles both ways).

agile_geek10:12:35

I'm a roadie, 3 bikes Carbon Road bike for sportives, Cross for commuting at home and a single speed for London!

paulspencerwilliams10:12:01

@agile_geek maybe need a #cycling channel 😉

tcoupland10:12:28

personally i prefer running, all the fun, but a whole lot less faffing around with mechanical nonsense 🙂

agile_geek10:12:39

@paulspencerwilliams 🆒. Mind given the effort it took to just walk up from the train station when I visited @glenjamin in August I take my hat off to anyone cycling around Sheffield!

agile_geek10:12:08

@tcoupland you will change your mind when your knees are as old as mine!

tcoupland10:12:53

@agile_geek it's all in your head! just start slow and go regularly! 70 is the new 40! 😉

glenjamin10:12:24

I'm more of a triathlete than a roadie really

glenjamin10:12:57

Went up winnats in Christmas fancy dress last week with my cycling club

agile_geek10:12:33

@tcoupland not quite 70 yet thanks 😉

thomas10:12:25

it is/was one of the things I was looking forward to by coming back to NL: just getting one a bike and just cycle to do ordinary things like going shopping etc.

thomas10:12:50

haven' quite managed that yet though (haven't moved into "our" house (yet))

thomas14:12:35

FYI: Clojure Survey is out

dominicm15:12:50

Keep expecting ClojureCLR to die. I suppose it's an attestation to ... something that it doesn't. Probably the maintainer.

bronsa15:12:12

it's actually getting more traction as of lately with unity and all

dominicm15:12:06

Oh really? That's great. I want something good to happen to ClojureCLR, it's lifespan is a good sign.

dominicm15:12:10

Must say I don't understand what magic is there, an AOT tool for CLR?

bronsa16:12:30

it's an experimental rewrite of the clr compiler in cloujure

bronsa16:12:12

well s/rewrite/reimplementation/

dominicm16:12:48

Instead of primarily C# like currently? Or to avoid DLR (or both!)
