As a panel member? Yes if he's around but he's a busy little CTO... unlike me, he has a biz to run. Actually, I am looking more for subject advice...I can haul speakers up on stage as required.

thomas08:11:14

@agile_geek and here is a question that doesn't get asked very often I think: when would you not use clojure.

keithmantell08:11:39

@thomas Good grief - a week in Europe and you starting hinting at heresy!

thomas08:11:34

#cloxit is it

thomas08:11:32

go an ask "the man on the street" what he thinks of Clojure... and that is the answer you will get!

keithmantell08:11:37

You’re playing mind games

thomas08:11:03

👋 <-- jedi mind trick

keithmantell08:11:32

These are not the panel questions you are looking for 👋

agile_geek08:11:53

It's an interesting question but given the audience's knowledge from last year I suspect most have already 'drunk the Rich Hickey cool-aid'. I wondered if discussions around how to design and organise a Clojure/Clojurescript codebase may be better?

martintrojer08:11:21

The Daily bloody Mail

martintrojer08:11:38

seriously, just blatantly copying Nazi headlines from the 30s now

martintrojer08:11:21

How the f can those editors even live with themselves?

martintrojer08:11:12

Can any Clojure developers working there just take it upon themselves to put code in production to cripple that f-ing institution for good?

thomas08:11:04

I was wondering what the meeting would be like where they decide what the headline is... would there be anyone in the room giving an alternative point of view?

martintrojer08:11:45

How beautiful would that be? The developers of a poisonous and evil org destroying it from the inside. Its not like the editors could do anything if you broke it and threw away the keys.

martintrojer09:11:22

what’s the worst they can do, fire you? That’s not going to solve their problems. Backmail the bastards

martintrojer09:11:39

I want to see a ‘Enemies of the State’ headline on the Mail Online with pictures and names of the Mail editors.

martintrojer09:11:56

(and calling them all openly gay and foreign ofc)

thomas09:11:01

there was one on twitter over the weekend... and the fact that the owners are non-dom etc. and very very wealthy etc.

davesnowdon10:11:52

Well not the mail editors, but ...

thomas10:11:45

yup, those are the ones I saw over the weekend

jonpither16:11:55

the amount of times I accidentally quit Emacs when trying to remember a key combo and experiment...

agile_geek16:11:27

@jonpither you only have to remember not to do C-x C-c!

agile_geek16:11:54

Enable guide-key...it's cool

otfrom17:11:08

re: when not clojure: when the jvm or javascript is a bad choice

otfrom17:11:19

when creating emacs modes. 😉

agile_geek18:11:33

@otfrom well that's blown another suggestion for a panel discussion out of the water! 😉

otfrom18:11:59

agile_geek I'm sure martintrojer can come in and say "don't use clojure for anything it doesn't have good static typing"

otfrom18:11:22

or krisajenkins could say "cljs, lolwut"

krisajenkins18:11:32

Hey, I’m not against CLJS. 😛

otfrom18:11:23

krisajenkins18:11:15

That’s the first time I’ve seen a hugging-face glyph, but I’m willing to bet you’ve used it before. 😄

otfrom18:11:47

the hug emoji in our slack is a pic of me, so... yeah

martintrojer18:11:51

clj + cljs is fine, use responsively.
