It fried my internet box and I was out all of yesterday!

There was a strike pretty close to us -- I was awake 4-4:30 am Tuesday night (er, Wednesday morning I guess) which was the height of the storm and there was one very bright flash, with a lot of sizzling and an immediate loud boom -- but I couldn't see where it struck. The t-storm yesterday evening was pretty mild by comparison (although, that rain... wowza!).

we had lightning take out a neighbor's tree last year. it was insanely loud (even from the basement) and shook the entire house
