Good afternoon, driving fully electric in two weeks, for now, some node.js upgrade.

I hope those two aren't related

Can you imagine a car whose firmware is in node.js ?

helios13:03:28

Stuff of nightmares 👻

gklijs14:03:19

Luckely not, upgrading to node itself goes fine, but upgrading dependencies gives weird error messages..

Mno14:03:57

Would you ride in a car that was programmed with clojureScript? (the big questions in life)

Mno14:03:38

My fanatical side says "yes", my traumatized-by-JS side says "hell no".

gklijs14:03:19

It's not like c is safe, or that with Rust you can't make any errors that might result in a fatal injury. I guess as long as it's properly tested it should be fine.. If it's all specced and survived a thorough round of generative testing, why not?

Mno14:03:20

That's definitely true, the only thing that concerns me is It also doesn't seem to be a particularly good fit for the job, performance and library-wise, which makes me doubt the sanity of the person who chose that language for that purpose.

thomas15:03:59

leftpad anyone?

Mno15:03:51

oh right, but that shouldn't be able to happen anymore, right?

thumbnail06:03:52

how so? did npm change something?

thomas07:03:00

I don't know.

Mno08:03:06

I think you have to agree to not take down stuff you've already put into the repo
