I’m about to release a new version of clj-kondo this weekend with detection for unused bindings (function arguments, let bindings, etc.) I’d appreciate it if someone would test this, since I refactored quite a bit of code…. So if you’re bored… 🙂
I’m not often bored, but I do try to squeeze as much quality Clojure time out of my personal time, so I can give it a shot tonight if you want. My code base is still very small and I’m mostly trying out stuff, but I’d be happy to test it.
In fact I’m going to order a new personal MacBook next week. I don’t trust the one I have anymore. It regularly completely hangs, I sometimes see things that might point to data corruption 😞 In the old days I used to know and recognize the signs of a failing hard drive, but I find that much harder with SSDs…
Battery is also poor by now. The machine is from 2013. Still pretty good in terms of performance 🙂
I’m looking at it myself too, 32GB of memory would be nice… but 4200 euros (for the 8 core + 1TB SDD), I’ll have to think about it 🙂
Still got this display at home: https://everymac.com/monitors/apple/studio_cinema/specs/apple_cinema_display_20_2.html. It just won’t break 😉
Yeah I don’t have that luxury. Might wanna try at some point, but the concept scares me 🙂
I’m a bit reluctant about the new Macbook stuff, because I heard bad things about the keyboard and throttling because of high temperatures which makes the 8 cores pointless
then again, I also don’t want to spend time on fixing drivers for a cheap linux laptop
Indeed, and isn’t it amazing that even after more than 5 years the machine still is absolutely fine in terms of performance, and completely supported!
Maybe other people here can share their experiences with a > 2016 Macbook. The rumors on the internet might not always give a fair picture
At work we have tens of them, I’m not really hearing about issues. Personally I don’t worry about it in terms of buying one myself.
SSD size is also difficult decision for me btw. I currently have 1TB and struggling to fit everything on. But maybe I should move my photos off to an external drive. It’s sooooo convenient to have everything available all the time though.
I use Dropbox which lets you selectively sync stuff, but I’m still going for 1TB next time (currently 512GB)
Yeah well it also takes 10 years for the tar to get out of your system after you quit smoking 😉
<optimism mode="off">
in this day and age, if you let your stuff leak in someone's datacenter it's more akin to radiation exposure rather than smoking: those genetic mutations aint getting away!`</optimism>`
