good morning

morning ☀️

I'm going to try to write a paper for an upcoming conference, so I'm knee deep in relevant literature I need to internalise. My oversized e-ink tablet is being put to good use for once.

💪 6

which model tablet are you using?

Onyx Boox Max. It's approximately A4/Letter sized and bought for this purpose (reading research papers).

nice!

Hyves is coming back, it used to be a Dutch social media platform with 11 million people (🇳🇱 has 18M) but it died in 2013 due to competition from Facebook. Now they are re-invigorating it and advertising it as a platform without infinite scroll, no addicting algorithms and hosted on EU cloud for data protection

Fediverse-based?

no, it was always a proprietary social network

like something my mother and her friends would be on as opposed to the fediverse

I completely missed Hyves back then. And wasn't it really popular in Peru as well for some reason?

🍌 iykyk

Hyves was toch ooit door de Telegraaf overgenomen?

zou kunnen ja, een of andere media-groep

I remember an item in Man Bijt Hond where some older women had been "por"-ing each other on Hyves for years, but they never really met, so when it closed down, the TV program arranged a meetup

😂 1

They ran it on Gentoo servers back in the days. Them madman's

Got my COVID shot again 💪 💉

👍 3

Didn't it work last time?

@raymcdermott you know how these vaccines work?

😂 1

I'm mostly proud of myself that I took it while I'm afraid of needles and tend to faint laughcry. My wife is in a group of people who need the extra protection.

❤️ 2

if you lie down you can't faint. I have the same problem and I need to go for blood tests several times a year

yep, I got a VIP treatment and could walk past a long lane of normal old people ;P

😂 3

Well, there is only one @borkdude 😉

I should have handed the doc a babashka sticker I guess? :P

spread the word!

spreading the clojure virus

let's hope there is no vaccine for that.

on the other hand, carefully rationed exposure to clojure-likes might make devs less intolerant of the lisp syntax

Thought of the day moment: Data works best when it is open. Just like the mind and a parachute. And it has to be immutable in order to achieve this. (But you all already knew that of course 😉 )

Yeah. private is a psyop.
