Good doh morning "Why is my vision so blurry... Is it the sunlight causing too much contrast? Argh, forgot to put in lenses after taking off glasses x)" Took way too long for me to figure that out

😅 2

That's why you get LASIK and never forget again

The thought of that going wrong scares me much more than forgetting to put in my lenses (and having to pay for them) 🙂 Also, "never" is too strong, isn't it?

Well, you might not have to think about lenses, but you need to re-do LASIK periodically, from what I've read

It depends on how well the operation went, but I hadn't had to renew mine yet (I don't recall if I had LASIK or the other kind) And yes, it's not never, but I have a grace period where I don't have to look for my glasses when I get woken up at night by a crying child (or missile alarm)

What was your prescription before?

yeah ok, that's a bit much!

I'm -1, -3, so while I'm not going to drive without glasses or lenses, I think I'll manage to find the baby 😄

I could find a baby, but I doubt I could change a diaper in the dark.

Or find a missing pacifier

It's been so long, I can't remember what I did in during the night regarding diapers. I think maybe he didn't really need diaper changes during the night? dno I was pretty much doing all of them, so it's not for lack of experience. But it's been 5 years, now. He never had a pacifier, so that wasn't an issue.

My vision is getting more blurry lately when I wake up. it takes 20 minutes or so before I can read my phone

also I have to use reading glasses almost but I heard it's better to delay it if you can

That's interesting. My vision is generally better in the morning and worse in the evening. Fatigue in the eye muscles, is my reasoning.

somewhat related

The png took a moment to load and in the beginning I thought the blurry image itself was the joke

yep, getting old

🙌 1

The only "getting old" symptom I can complain about (for now) is slower recovery

and the accumulated various hurts and injuries

I use bifocals, and they’re a revelation

never needed them before

apparently.. there are bifocal contact lenses? I’ve never tried them though. I use toroid contacts already for astigmatism, which work great.. similar mechanism I suppose.

My wife's vision was so bad that she couldn't find her glasses if they fell off her nightstand. Then she developed cataracts and while they were removing the cataracts, they put in corrective lenses—and now her vision is pretty good. Still needs glasses for driving/watching TV but only fairly low strength. Her vision is pretty close to mine these days. I've had varifocals for years and love them—but they take some getting used to as you have to learn to tilt your head to change focus if you're trying to see something at an "unusual" distance. Otherwise, they give you great closeup vision in the lower part gradually changing to distance vision across your vertical field of vision.

Good morning for an afterglow

dnolen on sax?

kidding, of course, I can tell that it isn't him, but David is a musician, and I thought he played sax, actually, but I can't find any source right now

Afaik he's not a sax player but I don't rule it out.

The sax player ^^^

what a magnificent tree

Looking good!

I never thought about naming trees.

There's a really tall tree nearby, towering above the others. I should think about a name for it.
