morning!
Good π₯΅ morning
Smelt, smelt, brΓΌderlein smelt π₯΅
I'd like me a splash of whiskey to wash the trail dust off my gullet and keep my singing voice in fettle.
Good morning π
I dread the day that AI usage for coding at my workplace suddenly goes from "100% not allowed" to "you must use this 100% of the time go go go". We're making enough of a mess at it is without a 10x amplifier π
Then perhaps use this moment to figure out how to make the non-ai-written code up to par? Because, the same mechanisms will be exactly what you need when you get the 10x multiplier.
And, if you never get the 10x multiplier, youβll be left with nice code. Win-win in my book.
I think we'd need some brain transplants... Or, maybe less drastic, some personnel changes. But that's outside my pay grade π
That's not me saying we couldn't do more linting, unit tests etc. It's me saying that it seems like we have some developers that would outmaneuver whatever guard rails you could come up with π
Specifically, no guard rails or AI knows whether you've implemented what was asked for. Human developers are supposed to be the conduit for this, at least in my book.
A bit later in the workday, after some chats to other people, I'd like to say that we also have some developers where I feel like we're almost communicating telepathically when we're talking, which feels so great. We get each other and our concerns are aligned, or they become aligned during productive discussion. This is all a recount of my extremely subjective experience, of course. Other people at my workplace may feel the complete opposite π
Our workplace is, unlike most Clojure shops, pretty big, so I don't feel like I'm outing anyone.
Guess a side effect of this 100% remote work is missing a venue for venting π So anyone reading this has become an innocent bystander of my pent-up emotions π
Good morning π
Morning, all!
