LInux ARM support is pretty poor at the moment, and hoping that anyone with the history of Nvidia will improve the situation seems unlikely. I would love a much more energy efficient processor in my laptop, but the amount of closed source code that's needed to run on ARM makes it very difficult for the community to support.

there was this effort to run linux on mac right? can that linux version be ported to that other machine perhaps

No, I think that's the problem. Asahi linux relies on binary blobs from apple and only works on that hardware. All ARM chips are the same, they all require binary blobs from the manufacturer to run, even a raspberry pi. Which is why it's so hard to get linux running on a phone or get an arm linux laptop. it's a shame. I feel like the promise of lower power computing has been just around the corner for so long. Just held out of reach by the "intellectual property police"

I was talking about inside temperature btw, outside it's cooler but once the heat gets into our walls, it sticks around

We had the back door open all night to cool the house down, so it's about 18 C indoors right now -- slightly warmer than outside but quite nice.

As long as it's forecast to be 7+ C overnight, we leave the back door open to the "catio" so we don't have to run the A/C overnight.

And the cats love sleeping on the cat trees out there in the cool night/morning air 😻

That's nice. I've tried that approach but we got mice in our home because of it

Our catio is screened in so the cats don't escape -- and critters cannot get in.

That's clever. If only I wasn't allergic to cats, I like them much

US houses generally have screens on all their windows to keep the bugs out. We have some really nasty bugs here.
