It's that time of the year.

Morning!
morning!
Spent the weekend with my family at the north-eastern north-western corner of Belgium, and across the border in France. Really interesting area! There's a small part of France ("French Flanders") that used to be Flemish, so all the place names sound Dutch. There are a lof of very old school bars/cafes. We went to play boltra, kind of a blend of bowling and petanque, and we visited German and British war cemeteries. This area saw some really heavy trench warfare in the first world war, and was the first place where chemical warfare was employed.
Is that north-east or south-east? Doesn't north-east Belgium border on the Netherlands?
oh I meant north-west 😅
but north-west still borders to The Netherlands?
Yes and also France https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgium#/media/File%3AEU-Belgium.svg
Then how would you define South-East Belgium? ;)
I mean South-West
That's just France straight 😁
If you leave Belgium towards the West it's always France you turn up in, so North-West and South-West borders France?
I guess so :)
I visited some of the war cemetaries west of Reims and I find them a bit depressing. But I'm even more depressed, seeing we as humanity have not learned from that.
Nevertheless they are interesting subjects to photograph.
I used to drive through there quit often on the way to/from Calais/Duinkerken and the Dutch sounding names are weird indeed, considering you are in France.
good morning
Morning!
I finished my SPARQL editor. It's a pretty useful addition, even with the various limitations and nudging I had to include.
beautiful! Love the typography 😁 Also interesting that you include "result was served from cache" in the UI. Is that mostly for you & developers?
Thanks. I guess it's mostly for me, but it's also helpful when estimating potential query run times which can quite unpredictable in SPARQL.
I can count many instances where I've glanced at a UI and wondered about state and cache!
Good morning!
Good morning

TIL there will be a HE-MAN movie. Could the worst or the best thing ever. I have the powerrrrrrrrr!
I'm hoping that it'll be sufficently self deprecating to be hilarious!
I dunno, I'm getting a bit annoyed with the tongue-in-cheeck style that is common in hollywood these days. I want movie makers to really mean it. Example: chronicles of Riddick. The director really MEANT it to be badass like that, without winking to the audience.
Good point.
I'm very glad Lord of the Rings wasn't self deprecating. Neither Tolkien nor Peter Jackson aimed to make it hilarious.
You want it played straight, that's understandable. Self aware, self referential millenial humor is played out (rightfully so, it's annoying, thanks Josh Whedon) If we're going for humor, I prefer it deranged like Chaotic Good Barbarian
But you'll notice it's a property of all good, persistent (lindy?) franchises. They mean it.
Other example: Blade. Still one of my faves.
counter example - all modern productions of the Iliad and Odyssey
Deacon Frost, best villain ever.
the Nolan one?
Troy?
both!
Nu-Dune, too
Looking forward to Scytale.
Jared Leto as metal💀metal
