good morning!
I've been paying less attention to all the activity on this Slack for the past week. Years ago, looking at what people did and staying in the loop helped me tremendously. Lately, I've felt that I got into "check all the channels"-habits, without much gain. I ended up muting a lot of channels, and reducing my exposure on other social online places too. So far, I'm happy with the result. I feel more ordered, aimed; both when I sit down to work and when I don't work. I've gotten more done the last week at work than the week before, and I also feel like my free time has been more of a proper break.
I mute most channels, but not this one. I need my daily good mornings π€
that's the channels I kept open too π
the "morning words" of @otfrom were wise.
it's no cost, really. A space for humans, not information.
I should probably do the same... but early in my clojure journey and have been learning a lot by earwigging (or eyewigging?) in channels I have no immediate business being in. This is the only social-media-adjacent indulgence I allow myself on a daily basis though. So my conscience is clean... ish
I don't presume to prescribe this for anybody else! I think it depends strongly on the situation. I love taking part in infeormal chat rooms when working from home on long projects. But lately, I've been in the room where everything is happening. And in that situation, I have to cut some information flows. Whatever works for you!
I hear you. Also have a lot of institutional comms noise I could do without - one of the downsides of staying in the same company for a long time. But the clojurians chatter feeds my inner child/geek/engineer - the work some people are doing here is inspiring. That said, your reference to 'years ago' in relation to clojure suggests we're at very different positions on the learning curve π
By "years ago" I just mean that it was essential to me when I started out! I don't believe in finalizing one's education. I hope I never do.

Good recursive morning
beautiful! The reflections, especially. And the contrast between the dew and the drops closer to falling. β€οΈ π
Thanks
