In the context of deleting accounts from big tech social media: what about linkedin? do you guys consider it useful/necessary? The network is kinda useful, but the feed is such a load of garbage and yet another attention sinkhole. Anyone who has deleted their account?
I have a placeholder but never use it
I need to be there as a place holder as I sell to the straights. I do need to delete our dormant company account on X tho
I never log in to LinkedIn, but I don't see the point in deleting it. They're really just getting my CV which I would prefer was public anyway.
I deleted by account years and years ago (along with some other social networks). Can't say that I have missed it in the slightest.
I deleted my CV from it... just have it in case I want to contact people... but then again, hardly ever do that 🤷♂️
I'm keeping it on the backburner and for Michael Drogalis's posts
Michael Drogalis of Onyx fame?
It has never done a thing for me, and I've had an account since well before it shipped because they were at one stage in talks to use a graph database I built at an old startup. Nonetheless, I've never deleted my account, mostly because I hope being a connecting node has helped some others in my network find work in my graph neighborhood.
@jackrusher the network is indeed useful. I'm just struggling with staying away from the enshittified attention grabbing content. I guess I'm quite sensitive to that. @ben.sless Mike D is a boss. It recently occurred to me I'm 10 years his senior in age but equally his junior in skills...
Since I connected with a lot more Clojurians over the past few months, my LinkedIn feed has become quite interesting: lots of thoughtful posts about Clojure and Clojure-adjacent topics that don't make it into blog posts and therefore don't make it to #news-and-articles But I've had to make a real effort in terms of new connections to get that. I have 2,435 connections on LinkedIn so I probably ought to prune my network a bit...
I've deleted it years ago, and can't say I miss it... Yes, you'll loose some of your 'network', but I've found that I tend to keep in touch through other means and that those are more meaningful conversations.

Good morning!
So happy to see that people are still able to come up with new, weird, enjoyable art. https://youtu.be/0Ssi-9wS1so?si=K8tGHE9XeMmFGEQG
... but there's a fun podcast I've been listening to lately: 1001 Album Complaints It goes through the albums listed in the book 1001 Albums you must listen to before you die, and haves some fun with the artists and music. I've discovered some music there, too, e.g. in https://pocketcasts.com/podcast/1001-album-complaints/3d4d6db0-b2b4-0139-f5e8-0acc26574db2/the-story-behind-the-cars-the-cars-ep-230/bb02e47f-4f8c-457f-97be-93ced26aad61 was quite good - a band that I only new by the cheesy 80s hit https://open.spotify.com/track/2lFFiNm0XtgJ6wkdncTB4k?si=65d8e7fc617c4ffa, but had quite a different style when they started out.
That's too bad. I'll give the other one a go 🙌
Thank you!
(sorry for the late bump) This was some crazy shit! Love it! This has made Rick Beato's channel, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zO8bt94-ybg
PS. I used to listen a lot to KEXPs Music That Matter podcast, that alas no longer exists. Do you listen to any podcast from the channel, @reefersleep?
Nope, haven't really listened to podcasts on a looooong time, but I'll give it a go 😃 any particular episode you'd like to recommend?
The mentioned podcast was removed some years ago. It was a weekly podcast with different hosts (and different music genres) that explored new music. Great podcast! Not sure if the episodes are stored anywhere availiable. Found this which gives an overview of the episodes , but that has broken links to the media files: https://tunein.com/radio/KEXP-Presents-Music-That-Matters-p3287805/?topicId=242540446 662 episodes actually!
What the hell is this? 😂 It's like watching a King Gizzard concert and realizing the drugs might have been dodgy... Moar plz!
Since there's no preview image, I can inform you that this is Angine de Poitrine, two polkadotted aliens on drums, bass and guitar.
On the off chance there are Belgians here who aren't in #clojure-belgium (or aren't paying attention :P) we're doing a casual meetup tomorrow https://mobilizon.fr/events/8d445918-091e-491a-a2fb-77c448755037
Current status: "Claude, evaluate and improve my function names in the grand Clojure tradition of using the English Dictionary for inspiration".
On that note, time for the AKOTSK season finale, by the old gods and the new!
