Good green morning
Who's going to Dutch Clojure Days?
If you do, please join #clojuredays and #babashka-conf (if you're going there too) for some pre-conf fun!

Good Morning!
good morning
good morning
Here's me forcing myself to go on a walk after way too long a going-on-a-daily-walk hiatus
(encouraging you to do the same)
I take the cat for walks, he forces me to go everyday at similar times (through guilt and meowing) 10/10 biological alarms.
Brilliant!
morning
Kiddo brought home a "christmas present" he made at school. It's a glitter bomb 😞. The tiny nasty kind that spreads like wildfire. Very hard to get rid of, I'm gonna need a F***ing exorcist to cleanse my house of this diabolical substance. Wrote a letter to the teacher explaining why this stuff is harmful, pointing out that the EU banned the sale of that stuff for a reason...
My wife judged a "Christmas on the beach" themed cat show this past weekend (in Florida) and dug out her sparkly green pantsuit for the occasion -- we now have green glitter all over the bedroom, all in her suitcase, the back of the car, the laundry room, and in both the washer and dryer... so we'll have green glitter on everything for months now 🙂
those glitter particles are a few mm in size, no?
the stuff my kid brought home was more like glitter dust, very nasty
one particle is a fraction of a millimeter in size
This glitter is about half a millimeter across. Gets everywhere. She has a few outfits like this. Back when she was a belly dancer, she had a lot of outfits that trailed glitter everywhere 🙂 We had several big plastic totes at home full of glitter-laden material (when we moved, she donated it all to a friend, who is also into belly dancing).
Yikes. While I do get the artistic motivation (as an adult you do as you please), I don't want that stuff in my house or near my kids for health hazard reasons. As the matter of fact, I will go on a crusade to get that stuff out the school if needed. IMO it's a substance that should not exist (the microplastic kind, there are biodegradable options these days).
The belly dance stuff was all many decades old -- she'd mostly stopped doing that by the time we got together (over 26 years ago now) -- so who knows what unsafe stuff it had in/on it?!?
In my twenties my housemates and I dramatically unfurled a banner adorned with glitter-painted writing as the surprise portion of a birthday party... we found that stuff years later in crevices all the way across the house laughcry
I smell a startup opportunity.
