We had St. Martin's day yesterday as well (of course) and when I was young we would go round the neighbourhood with self made lanterns and sing and get some sweets. But the kids where I live currently don't seem to do this.

Funny. In Czechia, we celebrate a "St. Martin's day" today. People say (a proverb) that "Martin přijede na bílém koni", which literally translates to "Martin arrives on a white horse". The "white horse" is a poetic reference to snow, suggesting that around St. Martin's Day, the first snow of winter typically arrives. Well, I hardly ever remember this being fulfilled TBH 🙂. So it seems that St. Martin DID arrive on a white horse this year.. just to a slightly different place 🙂

Btw this and St. Martins Wine (first wines made of this year's wine harvest) are our traditional "way of celebrating" this day. Guess we Czechs realy are hobbits after all.. 😅. Enjoy the snow.

12C in north east Scotland. We've not had a frost yet

That's pretty warm for this time of year? We were -1C "feels like -8C" yesterday here.
