Time to go home? AWS is having a big problem this morning.

Should be coming back now.

reefersleep 2025-10-20T11:13:44.811459Z

I was able to log on and search Cloudwatch, that was good enough for me 🙂

Anyone here have a good feel for the contracting day rates for clojure coders?

Ed 2025-10-21T12:37:54.258619Z

Over the last 5 years I've taken contracts from 250 GBP per day to 600 per day with the mode more in the 400-500 range.

The last time I contracted around 12 years ago I was getting GBP 550 per day, but that was doing http://Salesforce.com stuff in media

Ed 2025-10-21T14:22:18.583179Z

yeah ... I've been contracting for around 10 years (this time around) and the rates have not gone up at all. Are you thinking of going contracting? or looking to hire one?

2025-10-21T14:30:33.919589Z

Partly wondering for hiring and partly for charging out. The rates not going up over 10 years is terrible

Ed 2025-10-21T14:38:47.180439Z

🤷 in isolation you could imagine rates not going up in 10 years as a bad thing, but across the state of the world there's a lot of people doing much worse so I can't really complain about that too much ...

True, though prices have gone up so idk
