Morning!

Morning
madainn mhath :flag-scotland: - I just had a week away from the laptop (the work laptop) and did manage to uplug a little more besides (this means almost completely ignoring Slack), so I am blearily blinking at the Cyberscape and wondering if I missed anything..?
Good to know, thanks @UK0810AQ2
Hi folks, I might start looking for new adventures down the road and would someone have a couple of minutes to skim through my updated resume and provide feedback?
Personally I'd try to be more specific in terms of the tech stack you've (recently) used. My impression is that nowadays (sadly) they don't want e.g. a "backend engineer with X years experience" but a "skilled backend engineer with specific, fresh experience in _, __ and __" where __ are rather specific things that relate to 'hot' market trends. e.g. optimized, handwritten postgresql with GIS would be superior to sql. Or React 18 with hooks would be superior to frontend skills. Again, it's a rather sad trend but it tends to map closely to how most recruiters and ATSes 'think'.
Perhaps a useful exercise is to imagine 10 CVs roughly equivalent to yours. As a recruiter, which one would you pick? Hopefully there would be some 'decider' facts that would make you stand out. ...Without overcooking it, of course 🍳
@U45T93RA6 thanks for the feedback. Your advice indeed rings the bell - focusing on the latest experience. Thank you! 🍻
It's my Birthday tomorrow (the 16th). Having parents over, so we're frantically cleaning and preparing. Good to get it done, annoying to have to do :face_exhaling:
Happy Birthday in advance and here's hoping it's a good one and having the parents over doesn't make it stressful!
@U04V5V0V4 I had to read it twice too 🙂
Thanks! And yeah, I realised the 16th was ambiguous and thought, "why not leave it in" 😛
We deliberately keep it to parents and in-laws because we have a small house and enough whirlwind madness in our own kid, so it'll be fine, I think, @U04V70XH6
Life begins at 40! 🙂
I'll settle for continuing whatever this is gestures vaguely
Happy Birthday! I feel you, went to the same procedure 5 days ago. And with my nephew, it looks worse then before now, 🥲
Merci!
Happy birthday!
Thank you very much, all! My kid was even crazier than last time, so we were pooped at the end of it.
Only recovering now :face_exhaling:
