yes, something like that, we have a lot of childish forms for almost everything (in Polish lang)
I like that I can recognise the main word and that the ending changes the meaning of it ever so slightly. In Dutch we do something similar: klein, kleiner, kleinst. (small, smaller, smallest) (and English as well obviously)

Gradations for adjectives are the same in Polish. Also childish versions too 🙂 klein/small - mały (childish: malutki, maluteńki, maciupki) kleiner/smaller - mniejszy kleinst/smallest - najmniejszy
