genRaiy08:01:09

Good morning. Can we just turn down the fog.

Oh, Ray, just fog off.

genRaiy17:01:54

You can’t haze me

🙂 1
thomas08:01:34

@raymcdermott we have snow here now... but not enough for skying (also due to a lack of mountains of course)

😆 1
slipset08:01:16

@raymcdermott where you at? And morning BTW

slipset09:01:28

Grenoble 🙂

genRaiy17:01:04

Is that where you are?

slipset20:01:06

No, but once upon a time I lived there for a year.

genRaiy20:01:37

Ah, so you know the region. I'm envious - it's a lovely place for sure and I'm only seeing it through fog 😂

slipset10:01:44

It’s a nice place, but most of all it’s quite close to a lot of interesting places to ski and climb

vijaykiran08:01:55

Morning - I’m using AWS for 10+ years, but UI is buggy as fck to the point I don’t trust any info there anymore

valtteri08:01:47

UI is not definitely their forte. Only comfort comes from the fact that Azure is even worse 😉

thomas09:01:01

I guess neither of you has used the IBM cloud?

valtteri09:01:47

Actually… I’ve “used” IBM Bluemix or whatever it was called.. When they acquired CloudFoundry and broke it

thomas09:01:31

it's no longer called Bluemix I think.

valtteri09:01:17

I remember they had weird stuff like a mandatory “load balancer” which was expensive as hell and it didn’t balance load

valtteri09:01:45

This was ~2016

thomas09:01:49

I worked on it a bit last year for a client and they had to buy a third party firewall for $$$. very weird indeed, even the IBM'er I was working with thought it was very weird.

vijaykiran09:01:27

“AWS - at least we are not Azure” and yeah I’m a multi-cloud consultant 😅 I would say GCP is by far the worst UI

vijaykiran09:01:58

And never used IBM so @U052852ES wins

thomas09:01:44

even worse.... I worked on the IBM cloud (2016, when it was called Bluemix)

vijaykiran09:01:21

I only looked at it from afar 🙂

👍 1
vijaykiran09:01:19

And speaking of Azure - they have yet another IaaC called Bicep - and the people decide it is better than terraform - now I've two problems

1
otfrom09:01:16

I feel we can blame Thomas for anything we don't like at IBM

😂 2
thomas09:01:16

sure, I have no problem with that. And I actually feel honoured that you think I had that much influence!!! 🙏

grav09:01:23

I think for recurring tasks it makes a lot of sense to have some code in a dev-namespace that utilizies aws-sdks.

vijaykiran09:01:20

Agreed, that’s what I do, I just use CLI mostly.

dharrigan09:01:41

Good Morning!

schmalz09:01:43

Morning all.

jasonbell09:01:29

Good morning friends.

jasonbell10:01:27

Is anyone here still using - I’m not sure if modern JDK’s have made it unusable as some of the codebase in old. Or if newer versions of the Bolt protocol in Neo4J have made it non functional. Just couldn’t get it to connect to neo4j 4.x or 5.x.

thomas10:01:12

haven't used that for a while nor have I used Neo4j in the last 14 months or so. Maybe use the Java client directly?

jasonbell10:01:47

Yeah thinking the same too @U052852ES. Shame as I’ll have to change a lot of import code I wrote around that library at the time.

jasonbell10:01:54

Thanks for the headsup

thomas10:01:38

yeah... shame.... maybe time to fork neo4j-clj and update it?

thomas10:01:57

could be lots of work of course.

jasonbell10:01:20

It could be. I’ll have a think.

jasonbell10:01:04

@U052852ES The Go driver works fine…. I need speed of development that fixing drivers/libs sadly.

slipset10:01:34

It might just be a candidate for #clj-commons just saying

reefersleep10:01:07

Good morning 🙂

Ed19:01:40

Morning
