the thirteenth

thomas08:10:39

ooh dang.... hadn't realised that!

thomas08:10:47

let's stay in bed all day

Ben Hammond08:10:30

working from home? working from bed

thomas08:10:39

what is the difference?

Ben Hammond08:10:03

more likely to spill your cup of tea in bed

thomas08:10:30

yeah, that doesn't sound like a good idea.

Ben Hammond08:10:41

(watch out for the bugs tho' obvs)

thomas08:10:03

initially very hot and then it gets very cold!

Ben Hammond08:10:20

bed bugs and code bug forming an unholy alliance

thomas08:10:51

it's the devils work!

Good morning! The night before last, my son peed in bed. This night, he just woke up and couldn't sleep for an hour. Rough going atm. Hope y'all are sleeping better 🙂

Morning

otfrom11:10:25

I know it seems odd, but this place affording saying "morning" is part of why I hang out here rather than zulip or clojureverse

otfrom11:10:57

Tho I might be convinced to move to a clojure Europe irc channel for the same reason

otfrom12:10:47

mind you, on irc I can block people in my client. Here I'd have to complain to the mods

otfrom12:10:20

hugs indeed @U052852ES

So has any one tried Rama yet (the new Nathan Marz thing)

pez12:10:47

I’m planning to do that next week. I don’t expect to actually be able to do anything, seems I will need to reconfigure my brain a while first.

vemv12:10:23

One impression that I'd rather only share over this cozy channel is that the Clojure API looks as if it was brought from 10 years ago... nowadays the most beloved APIs tend to be heavily data-based, e.g. honeysql, malli. Of course, there may be a good reason for it to be like that... but with the precedent of Specter, which a lot of people dislike, I don't know what to think. Anyway, if Rama brings some freshness to our community, so much the better :)

thomas12:10:40

I just watched the video... and yes it seems quite a departure from where we currently are.

simongray13:10:57

I looked up the examples and, yeah, it's a very macro-heavy DSL. I once compiled a list of Clojure DSLs and it struck me back then how they're nearly all data-based, so this one definitely doesn't feel very idiomatic.

thomas13:10:22

I haven't looked at the Clojure API, the video uses the Java API.

genRaiy14:10:58

it's 100x where the x is C x Perl x LISP x ...

Ben Sless17:10:43

CPerLisp (Bless you)

Here is another video with lots of back ground info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPsK6jsEA58

Do explain. 😃

genRaiy06:10:38

What do you want me to explain?

pez08:10:32

What I’m looking at. A lamp? It’s very beautiful. <- edited, because autocorrect

genRaiy13:10:29

It’s one of the wall lights from this room. We were there to enjoy the Brussels Jazz Orchestra 30 year celebration.

Hopefully obvious that it’s the bar not the concert hall :man-shrugging::skin-tone-2:
