Good Morning!

dharrigan08:10:01

just been disclosed. A heap overflow and what makes it very interesting, is (as Daniel) says, affects 20 BILLION devices

pez08:10:35

It must be so scary to release changes that go out to billions of devices!

dharrigan08:10:49

Daniel is an absolute legend. His write up is amazing.

kinda humbling how much free stuff we all just take for granted and how well it works...

dharrigan14:10:08

It reminds me of this classic

seancorfield17:10:34

bool socks5_resolve_local =
  (proxytype == CURLPROXY_SOCKS5) ? TRUE : FALSE;
because proxytype == CURLPROXY_SOCKS5 isn't true enough or false enough 😄

dharrigan08:10:19

I'm going to r00t your smart lightbulb (or Tesla car...) 😉

ray08:10:30

Good morning

Looks like a mango-sized raspberry

ray08:10:27

Haha sadly the delights of perspective are not to scale

ray08:10:47

Though it’s from our front garden so I can confirm it was edible

genmeblog08:10:09

Morning!

On other news. I'm due to visit France shortly and I'm getting terrified of the bed bug situation!

dharrigan08:10:08

I believe once they take hold in a house, they are extremely difficult to get rid of (and immune to any known pesticides (except the highly toxic - kills-young-children-and-pets variety))

borkdude09:10:52

Yeah, that sucks...

borkdude09:10:19

I've been in two airbnbs in the last two years where I saw roaches in the kitchen. I'm always a bit paranoid that I would take one home

dharrigan09:10:01

:face_vomiting:

Ben Hammond09:10:32

get some sheet sleeping bags and wash them in your favourite bedbug repellant?

Ben Hammond09:10:18

eat alot of marmite? does that work on bedbugs?

My wife always puts all our clothes in the freezer after travelling.

simongray11:10:00

for several days

simongray11:10:01

no bed bugs brought back home yet, though, and we’ve stayed in some pretty disgusting hostels over the years

dharrigan13:10:25

I don't think consumer grade freezers works for beg bugs

😬 1
dharrigan13:10:28

not cold enough

dharrigan13:10:43

Most consumer-grade freezers are inadequate to kill bedbugs because they cannot create sufficiently low temperatures.

dharrigan13:10:23

and bedbugs are virtually immune to all insecticides @U793EL04V

dharrigan13:10:58

Lots of juicy (if you pardon the pun) details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed_bug

dharrigan13:10:33

It was stated in 2012 that no truly effective insecticides were available.

seancorfield17:10:46

If we worried about all the possible vectors of disease and infestation, we'd never go anywhere 🙂 When I first moved to the US, I discovered a lot of small spiders bite and I was "fresh meat" apparently and often woke up with several small bites on my arms or legs. For some reason, they no longer bother biting me... although when we travel and stay in hotels -- even really nice hotels -- I often wake up with one or two small bites. Definitely not bed bugs but it always creeps me out a bit. Right now, the weather conditions in Nor.Cal. have been perfect for fleas and we've had quite the wave of "infestations" during the summer. Fleas here are so common, there's a road on the Peninsula, just south of San Francisco, called Alameda de Las Pulgas... Avenue of The Fleas!
