Good morning! Troubles in Calva land 😞 https://clojurians.slack.com/archives/CBE668G4R/p1695194417678439
Good morning
> Be me. Have a meeting with my boss involving handing over some data to me for processing. Turns out the data (created by my boss) has serious errors in it. Point out the errors in a neutral manner. Boss does not take kindly to having this pointed out, seeks to prove me wrong, pulls up an example that shows that I’m 100% right… now has egg on face. Boss quickly tries to end meeting to avoid any more questions making her look foolish. I ignore her attempts at ending the meeting and keep asking relevant questions, since I won’t be able to do my job otherwise. Experience another 20 awkward minutes.
The more you share about your work environment, the more I am glad I will never ever in my lifetime work there. It really sounds bad, but you have said you still like it, ya?
I really make it sound quite toxic, but the truth of the matter is that I only share the most toxic stuff here, and the day-to-day is quite uneventful.
but the inability of my boss and I to cooperate on any kind of project work is a constant. She is OK as a boss, it’s just having anyone actually questioning any of her academic work that is apparently severely triggering… stuff you would think an academic would be used to, but perhaps it’s a question of academic status.
But maybe there are other aspects of your job that you love that compensate for the abuse.
yes, precisely. I have some paternity leave coming up soon and my wife is planning to finish her second degree after she’s done with her round of maternity leave, so that comfort of stability keeps me here for now. Plus I get to use Clojure and I am left to my own devices, for the most part. Maybe I’ll start looking elsewhere while on paternity leave. That’s what my predecessor did 😛
Life is short! I hope you eventually find a workplace that respects you and your talents.
Thanks! But many people here do! I do get some love and encouragement, it’s not all bad.
Actually, most people are great to work with. It’s a few bad apples (usually always the older professors) who are incredibly difficult to work with.
Good morning 🙂
Have anyone tried migrating from lein-figwheel to figwheel-main, had troubles and gotten through it?
We're late in the game with that. I had a specific problem that I wanted to ask, but I think I found the culprit.
The figwheel channels are very quiet :l
It's an amazing piece of tooling and well worth switching
Not to mention that any mention of an issue with shadow-cljs anywhere that Clojure users tend to congregate will almost instantly conjure the one-man support army of Thomas Heller himself.
just today I found like 5 essential pieces of info in the #C6N245JGG archives – thanks @U05224H0W
I'm jealous at the people going to the final Strange Loop. :face_with_peeking_eye:
"la la la, I can't hear you, la la la" -- I figure I won't get jealous as long as no one mentions it!
