good morning

lemontea12:03:46

(I just found out about penpot… and it’s written in clojure it seems (! ) )

lemontea12:03:16

pleasantly surprised…and it has an open format (kind of) too

lemontea12:03:38

(would be even better if there is technical doc on the formal spec of that data format)

lemontea12:03:01

(looked inside and it seems to be using the extension mechanism of svg)

hey o/, I'm the one of the original dev of the project and currently part of the development team, feel free to ask anything :D

lemontea13:03:15

oh, wow. I’ve always wondered: 1) is the html5 tech used to turn what used to be done on a desktop onto the web difficult? does penpot uses Canvas for the UI or something less fancy? 2) Writing a webapp with so many features packed into it… is it tedious? (you know, premature comparison with Adobe Photoshop notwithstanding) Thanks! @U06B73YQJ

niwinz14:03:31

1) it depends, I guess is just different and has its own quirks and tradeoffs/challenges 2) We use plain HTML + SVG, we also use canvas for periferic image rendering, nothing essential 3) Yep, penpot is huge and complex web application. It is not comparing with photoshop, it is comparing with Adobe Figma

day 2 of chicken farming. Only 10% of chickens escaped. That is winning right?

Depends. Are 10% one chicken, or 100 chicken?

otfrom17:03:46

I'm not very good at counting

lemontea18:03:22

chicken chicken chicken, chicken chicken!

lemontea18:03:38

(I think it’s the chicken scheme paper lol)

Eggsactly right!

Are you why the chicken crossed the road?

🙀 2
otfrom07:03:13

hopefully, I prevented that

lread12:03:02

all roads lead to chicken

lemontea13:03:58

people worry about exponential growth run-off in singularity type scenario, but they doesn’t seem overly excited about the opposite end of the curve - if you loss a fixed percent every day, theoretically you’d never get to 0…

lemontea13:03:11

… just 0.00000000x something XD
